I hit 120.... Now what?

Every guide I read is assuming I have played literally every other expansion it seems.

I have been told to go to Nazjatar, but every guide I see just talks about how “you’ll be prompted with a quest line upon logging in” Then I read you have to be 120 and have x favor to go there?

Just quested around and hit 120 pretty quick honestly, I just have no idea what to do now to obtain relevant gear, I’ve been doing War Games, have level 10 Heart of Azeroth, and have been reading up on basic things, and how the stats work and what not.

Are dungeons relevant? Is that a thing for gear? Or is it simply questing and then raiding?

Current rep 7th Legion Friendly

Tortollan Seekers Honored.

Sorry was a tad all over the place, any info would be helpful!

Wait for SL:).

Jk start gearing up for Mythic0 then do mythic+, do islands to level up your neck fast. Warfronts normal/heroic for extra gear too!

Do some LFR get more gear then pug or join a raiding guild, farm your essence to level 3.

Do the war campaign to Najatar to get bethnic gear to gear up the quickest.

Work on this.

Nazjatar over mechagon because of benthic. Also have to go there for a lot of profs. Do eternal palace when you can. Do all world quests and dailies. And most importantly have fun

Dungeons are relevant if you do Mythic+.

Mythic+ is basically just a scaling dungeon difficulty.

If you complete any Mythic dungeon (including 0, which does not take a keystone), you’ll get a keystone if you don’t already have one. Inserting the keystone into the pedestal at the start of the dungeon activates the difficulty labeled on the keystone, as well as a timer. If you finish the dungeon before the timer runs out, your keystone is upgraded to a higher difficulty (based on how much time was left). Rinse and repeat. The soft cap for loot is currently Mythic+10, but will be bumping up to +15 in the next patch IIRC.

You cannot use the dungeon finder tool for this. You have to manually form or join groups. You can use the Premade Group Finder tool to do this, but players have the say-so on inviting you, so it may be frustrating if you’re behind on gear and experience.

Dungeons below Mythic+ are mostly irrelevant right now. They’re sometimes useful depending on the time period/expansion, but right now they’re not.

Raiding isn’t super relevant right now unless you want to push Mythic difficulty, which is by far the most demanding standard content in the game. Most people won’t bother.

You’re better off focusing on World Quests (mostly for Emissary rewards – open your map, there should be some circles on the bottom left indicating these) and Benthic Gear (obtained from Nazjatar via Mana Pearls, which are earned from some quests there as well as commanders that get marked on the map and world quests specific to that zone).

Benthic Gear can be upgraded to ilvl 425 via Mana Pearls. Heroic Raiding is only ilvl 430, which is why I say Raiding isn’t super relevant right now, since Heroic is the last difficulty with decent participation numbers.

The importance of Benthic Gear vs Mythic+ Dungeons and Raiding will likely decrease in the patch coming in a bout a month, as new content comes with new ilvl, and AFAIK Benthic isn’t changing and there isn’t a replacement system for it. There will be catchup gear that can get you to ilvl 400 quickly, but Benthic goes well beyond that already.

Benthic is also the current catch up, mostly because buying the ilvl 385 pieces are very cheap. 5 pearls. It’s upgrading that’s expensive. If you boosted to 120, the base 385 pieces are irrelevant, but you’ll still need them to upgrade them to something that IS.

If you don’t know how to get to Nazjatar yet, check the big Alliance boat in the Boralus harbor, assuming you’re Alliance. Orange (not yellow) quest markers are what you should be looking for. I find it unlikely that the character boost doesn’t let you start right away with Nazjatar, so if you boosted you probably just missed the quest.

If that’s wrong, no big deal, just start questing in each Kul Tiras zone until you get friendly rep. If you boosted you skipped that. There’s a scouting map thing in the Harbormaster’s Office that should let you choose zone questlines. Or potentially a tour quest from an NPC on the docks in the market district. I’m not entirely sure where you need to pick up from on a boosted character in regards to standard questlines. It’s probably one of those two things.

That’s because he boosted his character to level 120 and most likely the only character he has. Has anyone bothered to look at his/her profile?

You’ll get a prompt to take the fleet somewhere, I get whatever gear I can from WQs before doing it. Accept the quest and do the intro Naz quests. You’ll get another quest once you complete the Naz intro quests from Brann, do the quests to restore the chamber and it will increase your HoA to a reasonable level and you’ll get your 1st essence. You’ll also have a piece of Benthic and a 370 weapon.

After that get what Benthic you can and watch the WQs for gear upgrades. That should position you to start grinding actual content.

I asked for opinions of many people - and the concencus was that there is no point in leveling 1-110 unless you have interest in lore/storyline etc, since at that point the realistically only relevant thing would be understanding how to push buttons. Which I understand how to do.

I’d recommend getting to nazjatar. The intro gives a 370 weapon. You can also get at least one piece of 385-400 gear out of it. Other than that i don’t think regular dungeons have been scaled up, but the rewards have, so they should help get you on the right track. Supplement that with world quest gear (to unlock world quests you need to be friendly with the 3 friendly island zone factions and do a quest at your war table boat). Get up to around 390/400 ilvl and you can start mythics/mythic+.

Enjoy the game and do whatever you want!
Grats on your 120!

Continue with the war campaign quests. It should open up a quest to talk to someone in a near by building telling him to “send the fleet” follow that quest line to through Naz. Also kill every star you find on any map to help raise your heart of azeroth level.

If it’s your first max level toon and you boosted it, that’s your problem right there in not knowing what you’re doing.

Get all your reps to friendly to unlock world quests, then get to the new zones and get benthic gear.

I’d recommend leveling a toon at least from 110-120 though to get an understanding of what you’re doing. You’re doing yourself a disservice if you don’t - provided the individual who claims you boosted is accurate.

If you did it legitimately, then disregard my criticisms and focus on the bit of unlocking world quests and getting to nazjtar. It’ll all point you in the right direction from there.

I did level from 110-120, and it’s all been very linear up until this point - it’s just now I didnt know if there was some necessary/significant step to take over aimlessly questing if that makes sense.

Level from 1-120 on your first toon. That is my advice. You gain a true understanding of your strengths and weaknesses, proper rotations, whether you actually like the class or not…and just an understanding of what anyone is talking about in so many situations.

Once 120, I’d start with finishing zones and story content. Or if you want to skip to gearing, get to Nazjatar asap and go from there. If you don’t know where from there would be, make a new level 1. You’ll gain a better understanding of what WoW entails…even if you’re just building your character up to eventually do it.

So first things first, buy enough 120 gear on the AH to be able to queue for heroics immediately so you can skip the normal farm.

  1. Head into Nazjatar, do a little bit of the quests - Neck goes to 35.
  2. From here on out, you can choose to stay in Naz or get more gear from heroic dungeons. I prefer heroic dungeons because Naz is DISGUSTING without a flying mount, and stuff hits pretty hard at low ilvl. I’m assuming you’re not doing Naz, so grab full 385 or so from heroic dungeons.
  3. Join any M0 (look for M0 “world tour” too!). This will get you a key. Level up your own key, and watch the loot roll in. As long as you’re a GOOD player, your key will rise and rise. I was doing +8s at ilvl 395. If people complain about your “low ilvl” tell them point blank “It is my key, you’re not forced to stay”. Your keys will get completed, and soon you’ll be sitting at ilvl 430, with a 68 neck putting in apps for guilds that raid heroic and mythic!

In between all of this, grab a contract for your most favorite allied race (I chose Mag’har) and do every WQ each day. The rep will roll in, as will quite a bit of AP for your neck, and gold!

Thanks for the advice!

But… (what is an m0)?

Basically iLevel is the most important thing here, right? From what I have gathered?

An M0 is a base Mythic + dungeon. It’s literally just a Mythic +. It’s not a +2, a +3 or even a +4. It’s a 0!

Honestly, if you aren’t too crazy about doing high end stuff, level through some of the old expansions. There are endless amounts of quests and story out there for you to experience. Do whatever you feel is fun. The lore master title is always a good goal.

Do the war campaigns on the boat, since that will give followers and just keep up with emmisaries on the bottom of the map. Dungeons are fine, but you move into mythic quickly to get upgrades, but need preformed group. Nazjatar is good, but the terrain is kind of difficult before flying. It’s worth getting into a good guild.
