I am pretty sure they can’t right now but apparently they can according to stuff I heard yesterday in shadowbringers expansion alpha right now.
Is this true and how can they do it?
Are the Holy Priests now good in shadowbringers with the alpha changes?
uh, i dunno about fairies, but, it might be a covenant ability.
as for holy priest, i’m really liking the “unpruning”. they’re getting back a lot of stuff they lost.
I imagine you probably heard about the potential (but not yet confirmed) Night Fae Covenant priest ability. I don’t know if holy will be good, but if that spell were implemented, it wouldn’t be anything like Scholar since it’s not a pet.
From Shadowland’s alpha, the night fae covenant ability is officially listed as work in progress for priests, so there’s just a datamined version that they may or may not actually be planning on using.

Fairies that scholars have in FFXIV is nothing like the covenant ability. Honestly it is like they never really played it. They were pets that you were able to control to a degree and they would cast healing /utility and buffs.
Back in legion our casts could cause us to summon a little N’aaru familiar that would heal or do damage whenever we cast a spell. Maybe you are thinking of this? It was extremely minor and you almost never noticed it. But in current WOW, Holy does no such thing.
As for the covenant ability coming in Shadowlands, at most it’s gonna look like a tiny yellow sparkle, like every effect Holy does.
And you had to micromanage the snot out of them because the ai was about as good at healing as a chimp is at driving.
I think they just got super dumbed down now, not much to it, they do not even get hurt anymore hehe 
I just hated having to make a billion macros to control the damn thing.

Yeah, I’m skeptically excited because it hasn’t been confirmed but the same thing was going on with Paladin and they got the ability that was datamined, just changed up some with a slightly different name.
Don’t know why I’d want fairies as a holy priest (aside from the fact they’re fairies!) but if you could change the colors of them or if they matched your spec like the class mounts, that’d be really nifty. Just wishful thinking though, they most likely won’t be implementing anything like that.
