I haven't ignored anyone in my 16 years of playing World of Warcraft

I haven’t ignored anyone in my 16 years of playing World of Warcraft.

My ignore list is empty…and it has always been that way.

Today something happened that made me want to post this. My level 40 Undead Warrior named Kaine on Kromcrush ran up to a 60 mage in Kargath. I asked politely “Can I please have some level 35 food for my adventures? I restored this character today and I don’t have anything.” The 60 mage then made the level 35 food (3 button presses) and opened trade with the food inside. I replied thank you…but the mage did not accept the trade. Instead he did the emote /question to me and asked for a tip of at least 1g for his effort. I replied “As I stated before I just restored this character and I have nothing. I literally only have 50 copper and I don’t even have boots or bracers…even my weapon is grey.” He paused for a moment…then closed trade. I asked “What about the food?” He replied “I destroyed it…I’m not here to do charity work.” I replied “Before I deleted this character I gave away thousands of gold and hundreds of gold worth of recipes like crusader. I even gave 10g to a level 10 before I deleted this characters…but you won’t give me level 35 bread?” He replied “I don’t deal with poor people and I bet you are broke in real life too.” Then before I could reply with the names of people I gave gold and recipes to…he put me on ignore. I did not know that one’s real life financial status mattered so much to in game mages.

His attitude didn’t surprise me…what did surprise me is how quickly he put me on ignore. We now live in a society where everyone is offended by everything…so people ignore all of the people around them that they disagree with. But how do you improve as a human being or expand your knowledge if you ignore everyone around you? Through WoW I have met all kinds of people…but since I value human life I have never ignored any of them. The closest I’ve gotten to ignore is reporting gold sellers to Blizzard, but I don’t consider that to count as an ignore…since it is a report. Unless someone is outright evil…I couldn’t imagine wishing for them to permanently disappear from my life. But with most of society…if you utter a thought they disagree with…they will consider you to be dead to them. If iron sharpens iron…and you ignore everyone that you disagree with…you will live your entire life as nothing more than a dull blade.

You farm a lot on another character for a guy who got charitable T2 gear on your Paladin.

Posting in a fictitious thread.

I’ll go ahead and apologize ahead of time for the kind of replies you’re going to receive here. This is pretty much the way things are now.

Just mail him some level 35 water boyo and he will be happy.

I never got hand outs on my Paladin. In fact I wasn’t even allowed to roll against warriors and rogues. I fought for every piece of gear I got and put in way more effort than other classes for items.

And you can give him a few cans of… spinach!

I take it you haven’t read the other threads the OP has made? I guess you’ll just believe this story, especially the part where he gave away thousands of gold he had on his level 40 Undead Warrior before he deleted it.

How is this thread fictitious? It’s not hard to not put people on your ignore list…you just simply have to know how to handle different personalities, and have thick skin.

I prefer it in plastic containers. That way you put paper towel on the top of it after you open the container to reduce spoilage.

The more you know :call_me_hand:

The irony is that it literally costs nothing to make. There’s no effort, it’s not like it uses a reagent, so this guy sounds like he was just being a jerk to be a jerk.

Well it’s not hard to believe when the gold/recipes were funneled by a 60 enhancement shaman. A 60 enhancement shaman that was replaced with the undead warrior. You know…some of us have many characters and reroll all the time. I’ve deleted quite a few 60’s to keep their names.

As soon as he cancelled, I would have just talked to one of the other ten mages standing right next to him. No need to waste words.

Stop rolling horde on my already horde dominated server.

There is no such thing as a free lunch. Quit being such a magesogynist.

You went through a lot of effort to talk to that mage in your story, when any rational person would have just moved on to someone else. This makes me think that it was in fact a story, or you’re just a drama queen.

I wonder which one it is.

You obviously don’t know any Horde Kargath mages.

Thank you for sharing this story. For some reason, it makes me smile, and feel good.

I think it is because you seem to be open about your experiences and your thoughts, and you seem to be a kind person.

If you already have characters on Faerlina, you should roll here and join my leveling guild <Social Distancing>, which has a lot of friendly people who like to help each other out. I will be the first to point out to people who wish to raid as an enhance shaman and do “big damage” that they will be disappointed when they see the numbers, but if they decide to do so anyway, they are still welcome to our raid group, and will have the same opportunities to gear as anyone else with their same levels of efforts and commitment to the group and the guild.

For a mage, it can be a little frustrating trying to make water/food if you’ve just reached the level to be able to make it, e.g. level 35 water at level 40, as you will only be able to make 1 or 2 at a time, and a single stack will take a full mana bar! However, if you are a higher level, such as the mage in your story, then you’re making full stacks each cast.

I’ve had several people whisper me while in town asking for a portal. Typically they tip anywhere between 1 and 3 gold. It costs 16 silver for the Reagent, so I always appreciate the tip!

I was in STV and a leveling warrior asked for some level 35 bread, which I could make 1 stack per cast, so I gave him 6 stacks. He said thank you, and went on his way with no tip. I thought, “Meh. Have fun leveling, friend :)”

There was one time when a level 14 mage asked me for a port to another city. We were standing beside each other at a mage trainer. He gave me a 15s tip (effectively costing me 1s), again, I thought, “Meh. Have fun leveling, friend :)”
