I have to make a decision soon

My PC uses Windows 10, and Microsoft will stop providing updates for it this October. After doing the check I have found that my computer is not suitable to just change over 10 to 11 and it would require some updating of bits of it to work with 11.

Sadly, being Australia computer parts are a lot more expensive than they are elsewhere, the US primarily (although one wonders how the prices will go if Mr Trump’s tariffs on China keep on happening).

A note: I am very much a senior woman with no technical ability so saying ‘you can do it yourself’ is not an option. I will have to talk to the people who do any upgrades I need (and it already needs a new graphics card) to see how much of my current PC can be salvaged to reduce costs. The SSD is fairly new, as are the RAM but I suspect the cpu, the motherboard, probably the power unit and the W11 itself, will have to be paid for. I’ll be lucky to see much change from Aus$1000.

Its a bit frustrating, I don’t know why they can’t at least extend the security updates for a while yet because my W10 works perfectly fine for my needs.

what are your current system specs because that will help to know your options?

if an easy hardware upgrade is not an option for you and you want to keep using the same PC your choices would basically be to use the MS extended service for Windows or a third party’s like 0patch, both have a service fee. You can check out MS windows 10 blog and the 0patch blog for further information.
