…and my enjoyment of the game falls off a cliff. Now it’s time for dailies, weeklies, delves, mythic+, and raid. It all feels like work. Coming up with a new character concept I’m excited about and leveling that character feels great, but I wish I could continue on after 80. Once I hit 68 and get that TWW breadcrumb quest my heart sinks.
You could level lock at 67 and just hop around through all of the different Chromie Times.
Just an idea. I know it’s not the same. But it’s something!
This is why we need XP options.
Folks like the OP can choose the slow and low XP option and take their time getting to level cap.
Then we can have regular XP, and then zoomer XP for the end gamers.
That has been the trend for me since Shadowlands. Endgame is no longer any fun, so I just level a new character.
Well, your number doesn’t go up but each new season or patch has a story of some sort.
Also, doing the dailies, weeklies, delves, etc once gives you a new story.
They’re getting rid of valorstones in Midnight, so hopefully we can go back to just staying in our own lane.
They took systems and replaced them with valorstones. The whole point of these “systems” was to try and force everyone out to play with each other and “mingle”, so to speak. But it just doesn’t work, that’s not how you do it.
How you do it is you change the incentives, you make the rewards people want drop where you want them to be. You don’t create a generic currency out of thin air like a really badly run country.
So what this looks like is this: you let PVPers get PVP stuff from the raids and dungeons and you let PVEers have the option of getting PVP stuff from raids.
If you give people a reason to go PVP, they might actually try it.
You need a more robust reward system, period. We can switch what loot drops for us based on our role, we should be able to switch what loot drops based on content, PVE, PVP, etc.
To me, leveling and gearing are basically the same thing and equally entertaining. Leveling is seeing your level go up, gaining power, and gaining new abilities.
Much like gearing is seeing your item level go up, gaining power, and still gaining new abilities (tier sets, trinkets, this season’s cloak, last season’s belt, etc).
So the way I look at it is they are essentially the same thing.
Except for the latter: It’s RNG based if it increases or not.
To a point, but you stack your odds by throwing enough effort and attempts at it and you eventually get almost everything you wanted, if not all of it.
Crafting also takes a lot of the RNG out of gearing these days.
If i may ask how does it feel like work? I enjoy raiding mythic+ and delves. across all my alts. The leveling is the boring part i dread leveling. So none toxic way just explain why it feels like work maybe we can have a discussion on how to better it etc
Point is: When leveling, you don’t need RNG or “effort” (aka; RNG - Many attempts).
If you are leveling through questing, you are building lore and back story for your character, compared to spamming timewalking dungeons while sitting in [Player Hub of Choice].
And then once you hit level cap there is a seemingly endless list of chores to do, constantly chasing upgrades that will become near worthless the second a patch drops because now your hard earned raid gear is about on par with basic dungeon loot
What do you mean continue on after 80? Like, more quests? You just complained about Dailies (that are not a thing btw).
World Quests are the new dailies. They operate along the same manner.
The leveling to end game pipeline has you isolated. They want people mingling in an MMO, they just don’t know how to do it anymore. They’ve tried dailies, endless grind systems that force you into the open world and valorstones, no one is going for any of it.
You are not getting PVPers into the raid and vice versa until you let them change their loot table. Period, end of discussion. Currencies and systems are not going to do it.
I mean with the recent wave of bugged mob spawns they have been putting out, it has increased the amount of people forced to mingle.
At least two world quest in Karesh took half an hour the first week they were out because the mobs were on like a 5 minute timer and anyone could come in and take them from you. Similar to the eco-dome questline that has a similar issues - every. single. week.
Okay look, if they want me to go mingle with everyone how about this.
Create an event in the middle of no where Khaz Algar. Make the event reward a random Mythic PVP item or random Mythic PVE item.
Make the event a maze you run through with other people, if you reach the end of the maze with HP left, you get the reward, no timer, make it weekly.
WOW HOW HARD IS THAT?? Are we not allowed to be incentive based creatures? I’m so confused as to what humans think incentives are for, it must be all the brain washing.
Which are not required. You mentioned it feels like work, but you don’t have to do world quests at all.
I ask again, what do you want to do when you mention continue on after 80, since that is not possible to do until the next expansion? Do you just like to level? Do you just like to quest?
If you like leveling and quests, just level more alts! Try out that Worgen Rogue that you always thought of leveling, or a Lightforged Holy Priest or any other race class combo you never thought about.
