I have a pretty large collection of high quality Pets already; most of it not all of the big Meta ones like Anubisath Idol, etc. In fact, I think I have almost every Pet on the Warcraft Pets top 20, all Level 25.
Regardless, I have been buying Rare Stones and using them on unusual Pets now; not because they’re OP, or Meta, but just because to me, they’re cool and you don’t see others with these Pets as Rares. I gotta tell you, it’s been fun!
Some ones I have “Rared” now include; Great Horned Owl, Pink Pachyderm, Worpeltinger, Elekk Plushie, and the Enchanted Broom (Ok that one is super useful and I use it, a lot). I have also used Squirt to level a bunch to 25, again for the heck of it.
So what point am I making? Hmmm… Do things sometimes for fun, even if they will never really serve any useful purpose!
Btw the Great Horned Owl was one of, if not the first Pet I got back when I started WoW in BC, so taking that useless, but sentimental, lvl 1 Owl, and turning it into a lvl 25 Rare, felt great! So there’s that.

Another way to look at it: The challenge could be to rarify all of your battle pets, regardless of combat-usefulness, thus making those rarified pets “useful” towards your end goal!

That’s where I’m at. I’ve got a good amount of the meta ones, though still slowly forming ultimate teams for the various achievements.
As an achievement hunter, pet battles have left a gaping hole in my efforts to the point it’s become low hanging fruit.
Never thought I’d find it fun tbh, but here we are.

I have always dabbled in Battle Pets, but I didn’t really “Get into it” until recently. You know what got me started? Doing the Falcosaur Quests from Legion. I am still working on those, but yeah, that’s kind of what gave me the “bug” to really get into it.
But cool for the great reply!

My current goal is 100% of reasonaby available pets (like no whale-priced TCG ones), max number of copies of each, all blue and max level.
So I spend Flawless battle-stones on a lot of non-meta pets.
My actual fighting stable is already there.

Nice! I like being able to take poor quality Pets and bump them up! While not as satisfying as finding in the wild, some, like Holiday Pets, are almost always Invited mmon Quality when you get them from the event Vendors.
It would be kinda cool if it turned out that something like a Rare Worpeltinger or Tiny Pink Pachyderm turns out to be an absolute Beast in battles!
