I am given this error Error Code:BLZBNTAGT000008AD but i can play classic normally by just using the .exe i just cant update anything and i need to locate the game each time on and on like on a loop of that error and locating the client
but what kind of corruption because i can play classic normally and i am given the same error and retail looks like that i can play too but servers are incompatible because of the mayor update yesterday
The game isn’t “corrupted beyond repair” because it still works fine when starting it directly from the executable in the game folder. It’s the launcher that’s managed to brick itself, again.
The new launcher is junk like so much modern software. This is the second time I’ve had it brick itself within the last few months only this time I can’t even uninstall it because the uninstaller fails and I can’t reinstall on top of it either because the installer also fails. This is on top of the certificate issues with the app that spam and flood the Windows event logs with errors.
It’s not that I don’t believe these things can happen or that Bnet is perfect, but these are not typical behaviors or what the majority of people are experiencing.
This sounds very much like a system problem instead of a Bnet one. I’ve been playing since Wrath and had to reinstall the launcher once due to a beta version bug (rolled back to the live client). If I had to take a wild guess, something is corrupting the directory by “organizing” or compressing files, changing permissions, or some other data-level problem.
I would investigate other apps controlling permissions causing these extra certification checks.
Both times happened immediately after a specific patch. The launcher program is almost certainly the culprit here because my system hasn’t changed. I do not update and I don’t use one of the faulty CPU’s going around.
There was long forum thread about this issue with something identified from the company end about this. It did not fix the issue from my end.
Face it. The newest versions of the app are terrible. In addition to literally not being able to uninstall or reinstall the app through the Windows installation mechanism, attempting to install, scan, or update the actual games also fails.
It’s hardly surprising if you’ve seen how buggy the Cataclysm, SOD, or TWW launches have been. Their development resources appear to be stretched thin and there’s no testing or QA to back it up.
Sadly none of that does any good and neither do any of the tips in some of the troubleshooting threads as I don’t run anything like Malwarebytes software.
