I know I should probably ask it on the class forum but I know lots of you play Warriors, which I normally don’t so perhaps you will be more kindly to a bit of a noob Warrior.
I was putting together my talent tree and my Warrior got into the mid 70s, I’d decided to use Mountain Thane, it seemed good enough.
However, I then realised that if I used that Hero talent, there were two of them lost to me, because I had not chosen Thunderclap. Now I mention this as being confusing - not only was the basic talent build one I’d been recommended earlier, but it is also the damned Starter Build which does not select Thunderclap.
So unless I take a talent that I didn’t want and that screws up completely my current build (that Ive been getting used to) but it means I cannot use one of the two Hero talent trees.
Am I missing something or is this blocking one or more Hero talents because of a base talent choice a usual thing? (I certainly havent come across it on my other classes.)
Thunderclap is central to the spec. If you don’t wanna use it don’t do the spec. Dunno what else to say. Although, I just went thane after this last nerf and it’s pretty fun.
You want thunder clap because it can also apply rend (I cant remember if another talent is tied to that off the top of my head). So just replace your rend button with thunderclap. It applies to all targets hit also.
Hero Talents in general tend to alter an existing talent in some way rather than adding a brand new button or whatever. So yes, they expect you to take the relevant talent to use the Hero Talent associated with it.
Its interesting because i just looked on wowhead for the Fury talents and of the 3 variants (Raid, M+ and Delves) the only build that recommended Thunderclap is for the Delves. While wowhead may not be the bible of Warriors, I don’t do any really high content, I dont do M+, most just world stuff, delves, TW dungeons, a bit of heroic dungeons, thats about it.
I guess I can take the Delve build and then I can use my current Hero selection.
It’s just out dated a little. There are two general aoe, good for anything, builds. One with Slayer one with Mountain Thane. What may not be obvious is that if you go Mountain Thane and you put a point in Thunderclap, some of the wording on talents changes to include Thunder Clap.
If your used to whirlwind to keep up cleave you just drag Thunder Clap to the same spot on your action bars and viola now you’re Mountain Thane.
Note that the whirlwind talents on the right of the fury tree, now affect thunderclap.

Thats very clear and handy advice, thank you.
Up till now really the only melee I’ve ever played in Paladin and Demon Hunter, both of which I like (although my insight on DH isn’t what it should be). I had the warrior in the 60s for Dragonflight to have a blacksmith on my team but she was somewhat neglected and I didn’t do much beyond collecting ore and doing world stuff.
Since I started playing her in TWW I’ve found I quite like the class and Fury was the spec I knew best, even with my limited understanding. I hope with practice, and advice such as yours, I will get to know it better. She is a Belf, btw. Unusual for me to have many active Horde toons but I think I might be playing one a bit more than normal.
