Ok so, in a lot of the early quests of Elwynn Forest, they complain about the SW Army being sent “Abroad”.
I was curious where the SW Army was sent to during the time of Vanilla? Anyone have an idea?

90% of the horde and alliance armies are off fighting each other in unknown lands that’s why the entire world is relatively empty, and it needs adventurers like us to pick up the slack and do stuff for the townspeople.
At that time, Blizzard was still working on the Burning Crusade (outlands) and sent troops there because of the legion threat and as expected, the legion broke through thus creating the Burning Crusade expansion.
One thing that would help anyone know and learn about the lore, is to read about it. Within the world, there are books on tables which tells the story of Azeroth and other wars etc… Plus if one reads these book they will earn the “Well read” achievement
Alot of it has to do with the Black Dragonflight’s plot going down in Classic.
Onyxia is currently manipulating Stormwind to weaken it while working with the Defias Brotherhood in an attempt to overthrow it and bring it under her control.
Alot of this is why the Human lands of a Westfall and Darkshire had to create militias to keep everything in order because the Stormwind army are either preoccupied with fighting the Horde for territory OR was sent on wild goose chases by Onyxia to keep them away.
that’s true, dastardly onyxia was also a factor.
Vanilla was wonderful because it was just a loose storyline. I still don’t even know what thrall says or what’s going on other than the alliance and horde are fighting as usual. Good enough.
I’m gona have to do that!
Also loving the responses, thank you!
This is why I played Warcraft 3 again before jumping into SoD.
Classic WoW was kind of just a ‘Where are they now?’ episode.
Sounds a lot like Biden and China
Yeah War3 story was actually kino. I couldn’t wait for the sequel to see what happened with Arthas/the Lich King. I was confused when there was no mention of him in WoW. I figured for sure he’d be the main boss. So I just didn’t bother keeping track of a storyline.
We did at least get Kel’thuzad at the end and Arthas talking sh** during the boss fight.
You know kids were pogging back then.
They would be in various places. Some are still in Northrend. Others are trapped in Outlands. Some are fighting the Horde. There are issues at Blackrock Mountain. There are conflicts all over the place that aren’t explored until later patches and expansions.
Let’s not forget the Alliance also were dealt heavy blows by the Gnolls at one point…
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Alliance army is pretty much always weakened.
