People who are good at rdruid have a lot of keybinds. Literally every GCD is important. That’s why I can never play rdruid, shape-shifting to cat weave feels so slow.
You’re saying this as a warlock which is absolutely hilarious. Please sit down.
I don’t blame you, having to go between cat form and tree form (if you dont use the glyph you’re bad) means you need a lot of keybinds.
Of course, you could try macroing some of your abilities so you don’t have to mash so many. A resto shaman posted a good macro that allows you to swap between a damage ability an a healing ability depending on mouseover.
Is it entirely possible that unpruning is a bad idea for healing specs only?
I rarely ever play them, I have noticed their toolkit is abundant to say the least, mostly because it’s a full repertoire of heal kit and then 4-5 extra buttons to fill-dps or resource build-dps.
But I mean, tanks? Tanks have barely any buttons? Most dps is also pretty sparse afaik.
edit: in which case, if the issue is mostly for heal specs, then maybe the unpruning could pass them by?
I wouldn’t say its that cut and dry.
As an elemental shaman, I still have about 25+ keybinds I use on a regular basis.
Some specs need more, sure. But some don’t.
And some people complaining about low ability counts aren’t using all of their abilities.
Curious to see what your bars and bounds look like. I’m at work so I can’t look at mine, but I feel like 36 keybinds aren’t even that bad. All of my classes have…
12345(6 ea) Shift 12345
(6 ea)
Alt 1234` (5 ea)
Ctrl 1234 (4 ea)
ASD (3 ea)
ZXC (3 ea)
Shift ZXC (3 ea)
Shift ASD (3 ea)
Ctrl ASD (3 ea)
Ctrl ASD (3 ea)
Ctrl QWE (3 ea)
ALT QWE (3 ea)
Shift QWE (3 ea)
RFG (3 ea)
Shift RFG (3 ea)
F1 F2 F3 (3 ea)
Mouse scrolls and click (3 ea)
Mouse button 1 & 2 (2 ea)
T & shift T (2 ea)
That’s 64 keybinds. Stuff like CTRL 1234 are for pet management but I have all of these bound… Psure you can handle 4 more keybinds.
This doesnt surprise me. i play Outlaw, i have 30 hot keys if you include the stuff on my mouse. and more will be added in SL.
I dont want more buttons just for the sake of more buttons.
I’m wary of the unpruning myself because it could cause the game to feel more like Final Fantasy XIV.
FFXIV has tons of keybinds and complicated rotations that are very long but the dungeon and raid bosses feel more like dances than the fights in WoW. It’s a lot of “stand here, stand here, definitely DON’T stand here” stuff.
I like FFXIV fine but it exists already.
In my case, the abilities being baseline are already bound. So that just means I get to use them in all specs.
Ferocious Bite for example, normally I would have to be Feral affinity to access it but since it’s baseline I can use it whenever to a keybind I’ve been using for years.
I think it’s a similar scenario for other healers but not sure.
If they give Faerie Fire back, I’m thinking where I would put it. I do want it though, I will make a spot for og Faerie Fire.
Wow raids have been there and done that. Encounter design and class design are also not at all the same thing.
I have also never had as many binds in FF14 as I have in WoW. FF14 is a simple and boring game.
Yeah I really don’t understand the reason for more button clutter, like bringing back Mind Soothe or Warlock Curses. Not sure where I’m going to bind those. I guess I’ll have to use alt modifier again, which I haven’t used since Cataclysm.
Encounter and class design are not the same but it’s silly to think they don’t walk hand in hand in terms of complexity. Or maybe I mean the inverse of that. They’re connected but flipped. If one gets more complicated, the other gets less so.
If I had to fight Blackhand in the day using a FFXIV Dragoon rotation I’d lose my mind.
If I had a DH rotation in FFXIV for The Dying Gasp I’d fall asleep.
Mine are (when you see the word x2 it means I also bind them with shift
op[] x2
ik,. x2
l;’ (shift only since they are movement keys unshifted)
On my mouse without mousing over a frame I have
middle, shift middle, page forward, shift-page forward, page backward, shift-page backward, shift right-button
When I am mousing over a frame I have every bind you just saw plus left-click and right click and shift left click and right click actually cast spells. To right click on someone I have that bound to z.
So I have 19 key slots, and 6 mouse buttons, and then when I am on frames I have another 19 key slots and 10 mouse buttons.
Wouldn’t that specifically theoretically be nice for M+ with helping the party pull off tricky skips? At least in low-mid pugged keys skips are a consistent problem.
Thats what its there for.
To be fair, things like Mind Soothe are probably just button clutter, but most of the things that have been pruned away over the years were legitimately useful tools that they decided we just dont need access to.
The pruning was like saying that you dont use your windshield wipers in the summer, and some people dont use their turn signals or seatbelts, so we dont really need any of them.
No, because that doesn’t fix Priests for keys. The problem is survivability, and in combat utility. It’s not being able to skip trash.
NGL this was super confusing to read. Simplify.
Is not blanket though, no idea why you are pretending it is. It’s very clear it has a design purpose, specially when not all classes got more spells.
As a WW Monk, I don’t get anything other than my new covenant abilities.
I don’t think it’s as cut n’ dry that every class is just getting 4 new abilities. I expect talents will be reshuffled once again and abilities be removed or replaced. Complaining about keybinds in the numerical sense just seems short sighted when we haven’t even see what changes they’ve made yet.
Sorry, that was the best I could do o p are all keys on the keybard, x2 means that I also keybind them with shift like shift-o shift-p. And I use an evoluent left handed mouse, which you can google to see what buttons it has.
Sounds like you have tons of key binds left on your keyboard.
