I just resubbed. I know its Sunday and all but for real - for long term Warcraft players - is this a good time to rejoin WoW?
As an addon to the question I should state that I guess my major gripe for the last handful of years has been the whole “time played” being used as a metric for the shareholders on how successful the game is or isn’t - with all the ‘changes’ is the focus slowly turning back to “fun” or nah?
Nah, this is not a good time to rejoin. You could try 9.2 but even then the patch looks really lackluster.
Better to come back for 10.0 if at all.

They have loosened a lot of the more annoying restrictions from Shadowlands with the latest patch (9.1.5) but the core design of Shadowlands hasn’t changed.
It really depends on what you consider fun.

It’s probably good for 1-2 months if you wanna experience 9.1. But I don’t think you’ll enjoy it for the long-haul.
As long as “that guy” doesnt mean you are not making a serious post… I will say, its probably not the best time to be back on if you are after serious gameplay.
Id say take a look around, see if anything interests you and if not, let your sub run out and come back for 9.2. And hope its good.
They’ve given up in Shadowlands.

9.1.5 is definitely much better place to start, then even 9.1
You will have absolutely no restrictions on story line, sanctum upgrade.
You can be playing 10 hours a day for an entire week and you will still have things to do, campaign to complete, mog to get, dungeons to run.
Metric did not go away. But the “prime season” for metric has passed.
In 9.2, however, it is likely to begin again. So, I’d say 9.1.5 could be better place to start then 9.2
If Shadowlands was to release the way 9.1.5 was released, it prob would have been VERY well received.
Ideally, you want to have at lease SOME foundation going in 9.2
Of course, you won’t match full Mythic raiders from 9.1 (for first month or so), but at least you won’t be held back by 9.0/9.1 content.

There seems to be a pattern here in regard to the release cycle and patches in WoW.
Kind of reminds me of something like this…

Not really.
Devs have higher priorities in enforcing censorship changes than balancing out the game.
I blame the lawsuits and crumbling management.

It all depends on you. Do you only focus on a single aspect of the game, or are you in to a bit of everything? Right now between Shadowlands gearing, alt levelling, PvP, professions, and dungeons, I can’t keep up with everything.

Yeah its pretty good right now. SoD is a good raid and 9.2 looks like they’re taking more player feedback.
Playing a class in the dungeons and raids is fun once you have all your toys. Getting there is what’s very not fun. And that’s the main thing killing the game.

If you feel like it, then go ahead. It’s not a great time but you could catch up for 9.2. Plus Legion timewalking with the return of the mage tower comes December 7th.
It is if you were really looking forward to things like covenant mogs and mounts being loosened up, at one point I was wearing kyrian robes while flying a corpsefly. Torghast is still like pulling teeth though imo, not nearly enough rewards there (sorry but breaking down something I don’t like doing into 50 repetitions of said thing before I see a reward doesn’t make me want to do it more,).
In other words I’ll stick with the 235 and like it, at least now I can get about half what I need just doing the tower from 50-60, when it’s worth doing at least once a day due to a daily, not so much beyond that unless you really need like half a five man with no queue time.
Korthia is still kind of daunting too, in that I hardly ever want to actually do the dailies either because I can’t pull items worth upgrading with research or the rewards are like 50 anima or something completely worthless like 800 gold worth of mats. Dying in the maw maw and losing a portion of your stygia until you go back and pick it up eq style without actually being a ghost is still as butt as it was in '99 and as a result I don’t enjoy those zones, like, at all. I certainly don’t go out of my way to go there and now that I can get souls in torghast I practically don’t need to go to those regions at all.
1.5 is a mixed bag for sure but I think it’s an improvement. .2 will just be a larger improvement, personally I’m struggling right now but I’m also on my like 4th character above 60 renown, many in the same covenant so it’s just retreading (but can’t see playing those classes with other covenants just to do it). I’d probably be silly if I wasn’t at least partially burnt out of the game in general.
Now THIS THREAD is the sort of Sunday troll thread that we used to get back in the day.
And here I was giving up all hope that the quality trolls were all long gone from WoW.
Well done, OP, I applaud your efforts!

There is always a good time to join if you love warcraft
I’m personally having more fun right now in WoW than I have since probably Legion. But everyone has different tastes.
