I hate this new forum

I find this forum to be really clunky. Not sure why they thought it would be better than the other one. You have to click things when you want to read replies to what people say in the thread and it scrolls on forever. The only good part is you can Bold and annoy people with :hamburger::beer:

same here.
The new slider bar is sooo much better than clicking thru 25 pages

I am not sure how I feel about it either.

Itā€™s weird. The endless scrolling is awful.

Itā€™ll take some getting used to.

Itā€™d be okay if it used the normal scrollbar, Iā€™ve had endless scrolling some forums, and itā€™s tolerable.

But with the fake scrollbar, itā€™s painfully obvious the layout was meant for mobile browsers and desktops are an afterthought.

The fact that the scrolling breaks with the fast logitech freewheel scroll mice isnā€™t a good look.

I donā€™t see a quote. For me it says, ā€œVoson-Illidanā€ and then just gives me a box to type in. Maybe youā€™re clicking on the wrong thing? I wouldnā€™t know for sure.

I figured it out from another poster. In order to quote you have to highlight the text and a ā€œquoteā€ box appears.

Ah I see. Thank you for clarifying, now I know something new. You can also quote while typing too, which is pretty awesome in my opinion.

Definitely pretty neat. Iā€™m sure thereā€™s more we havenā€™t figured out or thought of yet.

They could be fixing their game instead of doing this kind of work. I hear timewalking is a nightmare, shadow priests and Ele shaman still suck, and what is with the bugs in Uldirā€¦ DHs pulling Mother through the shield, people being transported off the Taloc elevatorā€¦ seems that fixing those things would have been a better use of resources.

You do realize that the game devs have nothing to do with the website right? They are completely different departments and what one is doing doesnā€™t effect the other at all. Game developing is not even close to the same thing as web development.

Summary

The forum redesign for Blizzard Entertainmentā€™s community of players is bad and everyone involved with it should feel at least a modicum of shame.

I am not a person given to crude or explicit language. The fact that I literally bit my tongue to not utter various swears should be noted.

This is awful. Hideous. Ugly. Unappealing. Just plain wrong.

I will readily admit I do not like change. I do best mentally and emotionally with routine. That said, just because I do not like change is not mutually exclusive with being right about the undesirability of that change.

"Do you not have phones?"

Just like with Diablo Immortalā€™s disastrous open at BlizzCon 2018, Blizzard misunderstands its audience. We are PC gamers. We may use other devices or consoles, but when it comes to Blizzard Entertainment IPs? PC. (And according to thread OP, it does not manage to even be ā€˜goodā€™ on mobile.)

This forum re-design essentially contracted out to a third party just like Diablo Immortal, just like Blizzard contracts out so much of anything these last few years, is not for PC. Endless scrolling is bad. Everything takes forever to load. The timeline slider is laggy and small. There is a lot of ā€œfluffā€ (forgive me Fluff for taking your name in vain) that is not necessary or wanted; itā€™s there to give the impression of activity and community interaction. Desirable information is obscured.

And for the love of what is left of decent humanity - keep the emoji away. Forever. (I may relent on this particular point only if moderators are consistent and timely in removing posts/users that abuse their use. I will not hold my breath.) And, of course, the horrifically excessive ā€œwhite spaceā€ that is characteristic of Blizzard forum design for the better part of a decade.

Do you know what ā€œuser experienceā€ is? Dad-ghar in a ball says, ā€œNope.ā€

Tying in to user experienceā€¦

Did anyone - anyone at all - test this forum design for users who use ā€œease of accessā€ features and software? As usual, users like myself must find a way to ā€˜adjustā€™ to a frustrating design.

And best of all!

There is still no way to have a signature. I have copied and pasted my signature into my posts for several years now.

Remember how we used to be able to link itemā€™s on the forum? We still do not have this feature back, either.

Oh, and mourn the passing of the ability to underline your text.

TL;DR - I do not like the migration of the forum to using the design and back-end of a third party. It is a third-rate user experience, but that is Blizzard Entertainment these days. #BetaForAzeroth

I used to have a signature here. The Shatteringā€¦ shattered it. Please donā€™t step on the pieces.

Where are our characters? :frowning:

Animals do no like change, most generally. A chance Iā€™ll give it, wear on me it might.

There are new features I like such as the notifications but overall it is terrible. You have a limited number of likes and replies per day as though it were some kind of phone game. I keep waiting for them to announce ā€œforum recharge packsā€. And the UI is so cluttered, its hard on the eyes. It honestly has started to give me a headache.

Itā€™s so incredibly badā€¦ Where are our portraits? Itā€™s just an ocean of faceless text. Iā€™m actually pretty upset - not gonna lie.

Am I missing an option somewhere or are they actually gone? :frowning: :frowning:

Iā€™m seeing portraits at the top of each post, not sure what you are seeing that would make you think they are gone.

Iā€™m seeing nothing. The top of each post is just a name.
