I hate world of warcraft so much it hurts and yet… over 15 years I have failed time and again to quit. I have tried all the supposed “wow killer” games and look at them now, they failed.
I wish WoW would fail so I could move on, but sadly it will probably live longer than I will, and I hate it, and will be along for the ride the entire time.
Wow, that must stink, OP. When I stopped having fun in BFA, I quit after 11 years of subbing. Now, I’m having fun again. Can’t say I understand doing things that one doesn’t find fun overall. Really?
Funny enough, I hear more people saying BfA cured their WoW addiction . Classic, however, I keep hearing about how it managed to rekindle that addiction. People make whole videos explaining why Classic has them hooked.
I can even say for myself Classic does give me that feeling where I’ll feel that compulsion to log on and lose track of time, which is a feeling I haven’t felt much since Wrath.
I don’t hate the game for me being addicted, its one of my favorite games. But over the years I’ve discovered other games to love too. Now I log in, I do my things, and I log into other games and do those other things. Really love FFXIV, ESO, and when I’m not feeling like an MMO, I’ll play Kynseed or Stardew.

Err… FFXIV has most certainly not failed lol. But none of these claimed to kill WoW either.
I tried to get myself hooked, cause my friends were playing it. And then I just got frustrated and just stopped playing cause why should I play what I’ve already played? All in the back of my head was how I’d done this before, and I’m not a raider so , why?
Now I’m doin all my BfA things, I just unlocked flight today so that was pretty cool and I’m really enjoying Mechagon. But I also look forward to the next patch in FF14 I’m just getting old
classic is very boring compared to retail. even if you just compare the initial leveling. you do a few quests in classic and the next thing you know the quests you get are 5 levels above you. so you have to either grind for a thousand years or go somewhere else and come back later to do the quests. how is that fun?
Whats fun about regrinding for something you already unlocked twice through 2 very long tedious 1/2 expansion grinds? Or, the 400 WQs you need to grind every expansion in order to get enough rep to play a new race?
Or the M+ grind you have to do each week in order to stay competitive on the same dungeons you have grinded for over a year?
Whats fun about your only goal to run the same content you already ran to death on easy mode on a just a higher difficulty?
Whats fun about the randomized gear that drops with seriously the most boring stat itemization in the history of the game?
Whats fun leveling through the entire game with the world content not offering even a ounce of challenge?
I could go on, but retail WoW in it’s current state is just a collection of boring mini games all tied up into a nice looking package.
People who defend it are in complete denial as to how bad it really sucks and at this point it is just sunk cost fallacy.
Go a head and keep up your tireless crusade of bashing Classic, but at least that game has heart and the guys that made it knew what a MMO was at least.
P.S. Why aren’t you wearing your Yeti pjs? I’m sure you wearing those would make tracing circles for the turtles a lot more engaging.
i played classic all day today. i like it as well. but, to me, it’s not as good as retail. i have more fun in retail. in case you were wondering i was grinding boars on my shaman and got him to level 7 and he had enough silver from skinning/vendoring stuff that he was able to buy 4 woolen bags. not bad for a level 7 i don’t think. i think i’ve found the server i want to be on on classic now. i have horde and alliance on it.
