So much. It is so unfun. It is so unfun that you’ve created a monetary model around it. It is actually beneficial now for blizzard to make things unfun as possible.
I really wish blizzard saw the problem and addressed it correctly. Maybe you should have made changes to make the game more fun. But it has been many years of this. Hemorrhaging your player base year by year. I was excited to see sub numbers fall in the past because I’d use it as a justification that community grievances should be addressed. Obviously that never happened. Profits rose.
if you hate leveling then classic is not for you
i swear, you’re all a bunch of retail babies looking for that next fix
we need fresh vanilla servers pronto
You talking Classic or LK? Or are they similar enough to you for the distinction to be irrelevant? They didn’t do MAJOR changes until a bit later I admit.
I tend to agree that the leveling COULD be better, WoW has always been McFantasy and McMMORPG. But I’d take it more into what’s today called “grinding” territory, aka standard combat. You?
Wait… wouldn’t that just attract a bunch of the hyper achievement focused content locust who need their Fresh Fix? And the Classic Andys would just keep leveling their Classic toons? Or are you talking LK?
Some of the best experiences I’ve had in WoW were had while leveling. This morning In Loch Modan killing Chok’sul with a group for instance. Much fun had.
I guess your definition of standard combat is dreadfully boring, mind-numbing combat. It is specifically because the combat is so monotonous, dull, and grindy that the questing in early expansions was/is an absolute chore. Leveling only becomes becomes fun when you’re able to apply your simple skillset to relatively more complex encounters like those in dungeons. Questing is only a treat on its own when it’s done immaculately in terms of story and lore presentation, and that is incredibly difficult to do consistently and certainly has rarely been the case with WoW. If you make the combat engaging you can have the most boring quests on the planet and the experience of questing can still be fun so long as those quests introduce you to interesting encounters against which you can hone your skillset.
Maybe you find grindy combat relaxing, but that is not the same as fun. Or, at least, it’s two distinct kinds of fun and if you’re responding to someone who clearly cares about the kind of fun that is engaging you’re going to be talking past one another. OP clearly is talking about the engaging kind of fun.
only time i find leveling fun is right at the start of expansions second time around is always boring lack of players dead zones no one doing dungeon or if they are it take like an hour to put the group together honestly at least on retail i break up the questing with dungeons without spamming chat for 1/2hr or longer
