I hate survival

I don’t get how dilly, or any of you guys play survival... I follow guides, do everything dilly has said... and still since the bfa pre patch survival has been a nightmare for me. My biggest issue ironically is survival. My damage tops the charts in most Bgs, but melee 1v1 and 1v2 fights, I get the !@#$ kicked out of me. Either I can’t do enough damage while kiting to seem to kill them, or it’s so slow that thier buddy comes along to help. Fury warriors and frost DKs make me look like a retard. Once they get on me after being kited, they heal my damage and %^-* on me in melee.... fire mages have also been kick my !@# today. It’s hopeless, the amount of times I’ve tried to make this work again for me since August.
How do u guys do it ?
your problem is that u are focusing on 1v1 and 1v2 instead of 2v2 and 3v3. this isnt wotlk where duels were remotely balanced
Also looks like unless that's an alt you aren't even cap level.
yeah is this about 114 pvp? cause thats a meme everything feels like it just dies

most people are either super legion geared or super boe geared

Tbh, this IS the hunter I’m currently talking about. I have a warrior, priest and druid all geared... i honestly didn’t notice a huge difference in PvP between the 110-119 and the 120 bracket....unless I’m fighting a fresh 120.

Does 120 geared make an amazing difference for survival PvP?
There's a reason it's compared to arms warrior.

It's not a great 1vx spec.

So what exactly am I supposed to play a survival hunter for... pve? Lol
Why does one choose to play survival over other specs and classes?
TBH I can't stand SV either. It just feels like a mess of spec to me when compared to things like Arms, DH, UHDK, Assassination, etc. It's not bad in 2v2/3v3 whatsoever though.

One of the strongest specs in 2s and 3s.
Survival Hunters are kind of like Arms Warriors. Not a whole lot of self-sustain BUT you have pretty good damage(even from range), great mobility and a bunch of CC especially against melee.

That being said I think they need to roll with a healer in 2v2 for example. CC and peel for your healer, if in danger just kite. It's really fun IMO.

I personally love the new Surv spec with the exception of turtle shell... that talent as it is now makes no sense for a melee dps(since you can't attack like every other melee defensive). I'd much rather see a CoS/evasion hybrid that lasts for like 5 seconds that we can attack through, call it Heightened Senses or something, idk. Just get rid of Turtle Shell it feels gross.
Even though your melee you should still play with the mindset that you're a hunter. If you're fighting more than one person, just target the person you can go toe to toe with and all in, and then trap/trackers net etc. from the person you can't kill currently.

Sometimes you'll just have to run and reset completely if it's an unfavorable fight. Things definitely do change up at 120 though when you are getting enough haste/getting the right traits. A big reason I actually like latent poison is it makes up with extra damage for the situations you have to kite a ton.

Oh also you'll never defeat a ret paladin 1v1 unless you commit like 6 or more minutes playing perfectly, so just keep that in mind. I will lose to 1700 rets pretty frequently if I make a single mistake or even just get unlucky on resetting. So in any BG situation/open world etc or really just any time you have no healer avoid ret paladins like the plague.

It takes a lot of practice if you're wanting to know all your limits and what you can kill/how much damage you can do especially if you're wanting those situations, but realistically your strength will come with having a healer anyways as SV. So arena settings you definitely shine, but also just having a healer with you will make it so you can completely dominate smaller skirmishes too even when you get outnumbered since it will give you the opportunity to finish off people at the right time.

Oh also instead of a healer a hybrid friend works too. If you group with a feral/ret in a bg/open world situation - you can again take on people that outnumber you hardcore. The synergy with your kits is perfect and they're great at just finishing people off barely. They also are awesome partners in 2v2 and 3v3 so there is that.

SV has stuff to make it work as a lone person, but always will flow best with one person with you as long as there is synergy. At that point you'll shine the hardest. Gl;hf!

You need to relax, it's as if you read a bunch of guides and heard about Dell computers and decided that Dell computers suck because you hate your Mac.

Great insight, man. Always a pleasure watching your arena vids.

Trying to convince my arena partner to play a feral currently but I’d like to be positive that I can stick it ou as survival before I do and no just quit on him

SV will probably be one of the better long term investments if you want to stick with one class. In the short term other classes can be easier/simpler, but what SV offers is essentially consistent reward on improvement. Sometimes it might feel rough but 100% in the long run you would improve more and see more results as a SV hunter.

Wouldn’t it be that I read a bunch of guides and couldn’t turn on my dell computer so I decided that dell’s suck?....lol
It’s a cry for help not a hate letter.

I’ll give it another go. Like I said, I used to be pretty good at it in the end of legion, but once the pre patch hit... I don’t know what went wrong with me. Chains of ice spam and fury warriors charge into a massive bloodthirst heal just keep me either tied down so long I get !@#$%^-*ed or I just end up ultimately dying. Using all my CDs , the same frost dk must’ve killed me 6 times in the same bg 1v1.
I really hope it gets better at 120
