Sentinel’s theme/visuals do not remotely match the rest of the hunter abilities for either survival nor MM. The only race they even make sense with at all are night elves. Why would they design a hero talent that’s completely alienating to the majority of races in the game when this is a class that can be played by every race?

Well,it is kind of odd, but they’re short on ideas and that’s what we got.
It could be worse…Pack Leader got zero visuals and is one of the most boring hero specs in the game.

yeah i’m playing undead hunter, why da heck would i want a night-elf bird around, the sentinel surely need to be implemented for each race.

Would you feel better if it was a different animal and the circle was called something else? I agree it feels a lil out of place on my Tauren but I dont even know what would be a good replacement that would be neutral to all races. perhaps a serpent sting pool and instead of an Owl make it a snake on the ground? something like that? I think they went with the owl because they wanted it centered above the mob where you can see it.
i’m ok with the “arcane” visuals as it’s described by the spell tooltip and it being a sentinel, for Taurens eagles would fit well, i’m sure that the wow bestiary has a flying creature representative of each race
Yeah basically anything besides the blue circle and emerald dream owl thing that has absolutely nothing to do with anything else hunters do. It would be much better if it was race specific
I would prefer no visuals over sentinel’s, it sucks that it’s the best hero spec option

Change the Spectral Owl to a random pool of Birds of Prey.
Remove the Elune/Arcane color pallet in favor of just regular Nature.
Rename Sentinel to Falconer.

No visual > Bad visual. I am still salty about no glyphs for old shammie lightning bolt and chain lightning.

Maybe they thought a posion or nature themed hero tree wouldnt be well recieved. Poisons would have been cool with me, who we DoT with it could have had animations that looked like their veins were green or something really cool. Arcane magic with Sentinel was likely a SL and Night elf idea that carried over from all the Kyrian abilities for various specs and night elf lore. You are correct by thinking the Night Elf lore theme wont be well recieved by everyone. A wild Orc or Troll Hunter comes out of Camo to ambush you and sends a cute little arcane bird to spit on you…definitely not the theme desired by plenty of us.

Same can be said about Dark Ranger. At least anyone can realistically learn to become a Sentinel or use Arcane Magic to enhance their attacks while on the other hand for Dark Ranger you have to be dead, become a banshee and possess you former body 
Both Hero Talents are incredibly race/lore specific so we can’t complain about one and be cool with the other.
What should be done now is implement glyphs to alter their visuals.
That being said I want Sentinel to get the same treatment Dark Ranger got and have it enhance its visual effects to fully embrace the Powers of Elune.
I think you could make this argument about a lot of Hero talents (ie, as an earthen mage why would I care about a phoenix?).
My only complaint is I’d like the Sentinel talent itself to do something visually, even if it’s a reskin of Murder of Crows but with owls.
Both are very unlikely
i would say its easier to die and become a dark ranger than night elves take other races under their own ranks

Hero talents are yet again another missfire from blizzard taking people good ideas and perverting in their own image, see garrisons(housing), allied races(subraces) artifacts(weapons you lv up) and now hero talents(heroic specs/class)
I kind of disagree. You know there is a Sentinel on the field, you hear it, sometimes you see the arcane rain. You never know a Pack Leader is on the field. You don’t hear it, see it, or even see it in the numbers. And as a player you don’t feel it.
