Title. I virtually despise playing my mage now, and would much rather spend my time at max level with a different class. Casters are my go-to, but I hear pretty awful things about priests and warlocks on their class forums. What’s the general consensus for them?
This is from somebody that has mained both.
If ALL you care about is dps?

Demonology Warlocks are really fun to level.
How are they at endgame? I don’t just mean in terms of DPS, but also fun factor. I adored playing my mage through leveling and now I can’t stand to play him at the endgame now.
What do you have against mages? 
Seriously though, go warlock if all you intend to do is dps. They have 3 distinctive playstyles for you to choose from whereas priests only have one–and it’s a bit dull, to be honest.

I haven’t. I’m saving a shaman for when I unlock Vulpera.
Okay. Then I’d say Warlock. Unless you have the slightest desire to heal, you at least have flexibility with damage specs as a lock

What i do as my affli lock at low lvl: dot dot and watch em drop.

It depends what you are looking for honestly.
Balance druid is super fun and highly mobile. I like being able to instant cast my aoe death ray in flight form to tag rares that are almost dead.
Did you play a mage in classic and now you’re realizing retail mage isn’t as fun?
resto and ele I find to both be really fun
Pros:
- totems are pretty awesome
- earthquake is the coolest aoe spell imo
- you get to RP a sith lord
- spirit wolf
Cons:
- Playing a fun class wont fix BfA
try melee, life is easier

No I just think the way mages are designed is pretty tedious.
Warlocks are great, unless M+ is your thing since we are trash tier in all 3 specs in M+. Raiding and PvP we are top notch.
Idk, i think locks are in a good spot except in M+, solo’ing stuff is really easy, dps is good.
You sure you just aren’t playing it wrong?

What spec did you play? Do you only care about damage numbers? What is your main content?
I had mained my priest since BC… Since this start of thix xpac, I started branching out and finding much more excitement in other places. Healing priest is fine… Shadow is extremely boring to me. No excitement to the specc at all in my opinion.
I have a max warlock, and he’s fun. The lack of mobility makes it not very fun to me though. Throwing chaos bolts into faces is fun. Demonology is good fun too, but I haven’t practiced it much. I think all 3 speccs of lock perform decently at least.
I like a little “boom” to my casters though, so I like fire mage, destro lock, etc.
What do you find tedious about those specs? The dot management? None of them are particularly tedious–especially not boomchickens.
As for the OP… I’m also curious which mage spec you were playing.
I went shaman myself. Mage was too squishy for me i dont like not having ability to heal myself. Tho locks have cookiesand drain health. Idk
