I hate chromie time

During bfa I had the motive to level 6 characters to max and get them geared to do raiding and m+. I took a break and recently returned and decided to switch to Alliance but didn’t want to pay to faction swap all my characters. I am trying to level shaman, mage, warlock, monk, DK, and DH but am feeling no motive to and it’s generally boring.

I blame chromie time. It feels a lot slower to me, in bfa I got maxed out in about 3 days on all my characters, I found the will to get one of them to level 50 and it took a week in legion chromie time. I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong but I hate staying in the same expansion for 50 levels.

Chromie is waaaay out of the way for alliance than horde. Made it feel punishing until I earned enough for flight.

I don’t think they changed it since BFA, and gonna say you blaming poor Chromie for your own impatience. I know I was. Just wanted my toon to be like and have everything my horde did, made it feel more like a grind. It’s the beauty and horror of a two faction system.

Weird, that’s how I felt getting characters through the 20 levels that made up the Outland/Northrend gap before the squish. And then I went on to resent being done with the Cata/Pandaria gap by the time I was halfway done Jade Forest.

It’s almost like different folks like different things. :man_shrugging:

It’s fine except the part where your expansion has no dungeon groups and it de faults to outside that XP.

Also, I feel bad for new players forced into BFA

1-50 can be done within a day if you have the free time. You don’t have to stay in the same expansion for all 50 levels. You can freely travel anywhere at all, it doesn’t matter what state of CT you’re in and you don’t have to change it either. The world scales to you. So if Legion gets old you can try somewhere else!

The only real choice involved in Chromie Time is what dungeons you want in your queue.

I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in a single expansion for all 50 levels. I usually do WoD until level 30, hit MoP until 40 and then hit some old school lowbie zones for fast XP.

Why stay in the same expansion?

I run BC dungeons while doing WoD content. I mix and match it up. Super fast and fun.

I get from 1 to 50 in a single play session all the time.

The only real issue I feel needs to be fixed. I found myself checking forums and discord groups to see which expansion everyone picked to help with queue times.

Chromie time can make you feel like a voyeur in old content, rather than a participant.

It does reach the point where people have just had enough leveling. I think it was a mistake for devs to count on everybody leveling new characters to fill up their time during content droughts.

I think the bigger issue is that a lot of people are like you. They started on Horde, decided it was time to play Alliance alts, and now they’re just too exhausted to do it. I see this as a big issue that is hurting faction imbalance.

Everyone says this, but I always have when I try to do that. I have another gnome who is level 42 with 18 hours play time. Any tips? Do you have to do a certain thing to level quickly? I have mainly been herbing and questing in Classic zonea.

Chromie time actually renewed my interest in leveling alts. I like the flexibility of jumping around expansions based on where I’m in the mood to level that day.

If you make like a nightborne or something you can even build a story around all this time travelling you’re doing with chromie to really learn about this faction of full monster and corpses you just signed up with minus a few of them are related to you and don’t mind drugs.

For the fastest solo leveling experience, level in WoD. Between the intro, the first zone, and flying around and doing the World Events you will be most of the way to 50.

If you want to dungeon level do Cata (up to 30) or BFA for the fastest queues

You should hop on the PTR and try solo island expeditions. It’s the most fun I’ve ever had leveling in this game.

I can tell you that Chromie time is definitely faster than standard leveling, especially in certain expansions. I’ve played in both.

Then don’t use it.

How is chromie time to blame. Just go in WoD (Fastest xpact to lvlup) till 45 then switch to BFA till 48 then start Shadowland. It take like 2 days

Hammer time is better

You don’t actually have to use Chromie Time. You can use whatever leveling path you want. However, I am pretty sure there is an optimized leveling path with Chromie Time that involves jumping from expansion to expansion at specific levels.

Now… “Threads of Fate” is a slog. Quicker to just run the campaign to level.
