So I leveled an alliance priest (Holy) to try out healing in SS, to see if it is as bad as people say it is, and why no healers que for SS. Only after 12 rounds (I know not a huge sample) but I get it now, Healing in SS is awful. Its not fun at all. what’s the point of playing a game when you are just stunned locked, silenced, frozen, rooted, feared the entire game, who in their right mind thinks this is fun? I get there are pros out there and people that dedicate their who lives to WoW pvp that have no problem with healing, but for the average joe blow that plays a few hours a night, this is not it
you didn’t get it afterall
I agree with you minus I don’t think being good at WoW needs to be derogatory. Good players just avoid unnecessary CC and use their buttons well enough to climb, while bad-average healers struggle, and there’s nothing wrong with being bad-average (I’m comfortably in there somewhere) but it makes up the majority of players so there’s a lot of negative feedback.
It’s just less tolerable because you don’t know/like the people you’re playing with, so their mistakes annoy you more, where you’d excuse a friend making a bad play or whatever.
I’m not saying being a Pro or enjoying WoW PvP to where you play it a lot is a bad thing or a negative thing, its just the average player is not that and find it really hard to get into PvP because of the HUGE HUGE learning curve that turns them away and not wanting to stick it out.
Oh, I get it entirely. Solo queue basically destroyed WoW PVP unless you’re the kind of person who can tolerate spam queuing, or are just good enough to get rewards in minimal games played.
Used to be the people getting RSS/BGB 2400s used to get 18-2100 in 2s with a pal, or Via LFG and the game seemed a little less cheap and with more character.
I mean, are dps not subjected to all of these things too?
Don’t really think the cc is the reason healing “awful”. It has more to do with the gameplay loop that comes from fast ramp dampening, the healer-only mmr pool, and the fact that healers generally have less agency than dps (imo).
few hours a night is a lot and much more time than the average joe plays (imo), but in any event, you don’t have to heal shuffle lol. If it’s any consolation, healing shuffle gets a lot better once you get out of that 1800-2200 mmr range. You just gotta grind out the games and you’ll reach a point where people start to trade defensives and chain cc pretty well.
1800-2200 range is the wild west, and def not an enjoyable range if you’re wanting to push on any spec. People constantly dying in the first 5-10 seconds without using cds, people in greens that are unhealable, people learning/practicing alts, more leavers because people don’t care about their rating on alts, etc.
Yes, but healers don’t get to feel like they’re closing games out as much as feeling as prolonging them.
Difference between running in a race and being the person behind them pushing them forward
We played while I was on my survival hunter and I messaged you after our match.
I’m sorry you still seem so frustrated healing SS, it’s definitely got a nearly vertical learning curve at the start.
It sounds like you’re over it but a large part of playing priest in arenas is avoiding the cc with your positioning. It’s definitely not a healer that can turret in the open and cast then punish anyone who tries to come CC you.
Personally I prefer disc over holy in pvp, I think it’s a lot easier and a lot simpler especially in solo shuffle. It does have the down side of no stun but you get two schools of magic for healing so if you get kicked from holy magic you can still get a little healing out.
you can break cc with death you can immune cc with fade you can immune cc with angelform you can immune cc with holy ward you can pre grip your teammate to safety so the cc chain doesnt matter you can pre guardian serenity them to full health while simultaneously applying a big mastery hot so the cc chain doesnt matter you can chastise them or fear them the stop them from trying to cc you. If the enemy team doesn’t have much damage then the cc you sit doesnt matter if your teammate has their defensive active then the cc you sit does not matter.
Also your character is also full greens with 0 enchants. If you go do crate farm for 1 hour you get full gear.
Ok? Why did this turn into a shuffle rant sounds like you just hate PvP. Don’t play it
the dampening promotes god awful dps players get free rating. no skill is required in solo shuffle for dps who can just pop cooldowns and trinket the first cc and win.
It’s literally even worse in Mop XD
This dude spends 18s in cc, gets a single global, and then spends 28s more in cc until his feral dies XD
Ah the golden era of pvp Back when the game was good (for real this time)
Until next time too…
WoD classic is gonna be crazy guys. You have no idea…
You are stunned locked silenced frozen rooted as a dps too.
???
This can be interpreted as it never was good or it has always been good. Or did you mean that “good” is in the eye of the beholder?
Which way did you mean?
Yeah, people who hate retail cc haven’t seen the real arms race yet.
Only thing WoD got right was their pvp gear
Ok but his team doesnt do anything to save him against God Comp which is the MOST cc of any comp into jungle which should just insanely pump this team.
I heard them say they would kick cc 4 times in that short video and a few seconds later say Whoops. They also forced block without him healing for awhile. Hydra also had the worst positioning in the world, and mop positioning matters way more because of those chains.
