I for one DISLIKE Spirit Shell

and glad theres a nerf to it
not saying it stinks or whatever.

just…i dont like the concept of going - oh 20 seconds here we go lets ramp it up and OK thats done now to wait for the next BIG DMG MOVE.

i had more fun with the pentient one vs spirit shell.

The gameplay for both is basically the same, one is just significantly more forgiving than the other in terms of when the ramp window is relative to the damage event.

The cognitive dissonance of priest mains I swear…

This is the only forum where I see players actively cheer for their own class to be nerfed. And SS build vs. Evang play the exact same what are you talking about??

They do. There’s two differences, functionally. One being you play around 45s timers with rapture as a second ramp. Two being you time your evangelism cast for right when damage goes out, rather than any time up to 10s before.

Most other classes aren’t completely toxic to the healing meta and have a significant number of players who are playing the spec that don’t like it but are forced to play it because Spirit Shell is so horrible.

I mean its essentially going to be the same in terms of healing patterns. Were still going to be waiting for the next big damage phase since we’re preemptive burst healers.

It’ll be the same with evangelism, 70% of our healing will come from those evangelism windows, and the rest of the time were going to be chilling.

Though it will be harder now because you have to time your ramps so that you finish getting all your atonement out right when the damage hits, then dps rotation. No more 21 second grace window, now your timing has to be near perfect.

But if you don’t like the “set up healing 15 seconds before damage comes in, then burst heal it, then wait” playstyle I would play Holy or another class tbh. Disc is definitely one of the most unique healers.

Only if you struggled playing disc before hand. But i personally feel SS strangled freedom to heal much outside of those windows. With CoM and rapture it allows almost 2 evangs. I feel its more flexable

I’ll enjoy more variety in possible disc builds and maybe using ss situationally for diff boss fights.

I will miss the wild numbers. J just hope it doesn’t hurt our overall throughput too much relative to rshammy and hpally.

Just a friendly FYI - the nerf basically changes nothing. You already mostly overcap your shields, so it’ll only really impact things if you’re ramping during a period of high consistent damage… and even then, barely.

You don’t cap shield on some people. If you shield 10 times, 3 of them will only get Sachism and Mindgames. 27% haste.

SS/Mindbender -> Schism -> Mindgames usually catches all of my Atonements, and even then by that point they’re at cap. One has usually dropped by the time I finish my Mind Blast. It’s when you’re able to refresh the shields that you’ll lose that value, but even then it’s still an enormous amount of mitigated damage.

Edit: <— Frustrated HPriest main, no bias here!

Yes, if you only shield 5,6 times you can reach cap for all of them.
But if you shield 10 times for maximum shield and hps, some of them won’t be capped.

By 20% nerf It will be even worse.

I wouldn’t be aiming for a 20 atonement spread at this point, anyway. 7-8 pre-shields/smends is plenty, and anything extra doesn’t do enough healing to warrant the mana expenditure.

With 8 shields you still won’t cap 2-3 of them without PI, more so if you press Desperate prayer.

Not super-charging 2-3 shields is negligible at best in terms of throughput, and basically, changes nothing. You still play exactly the same, and you’ll see almost exactly the same numbers.
SS throughput will still be absolutely immense, and with gear scaling there’ll be no discernible difference without further nerfs.

Nah, with 20% nerf, you won’t be capped for all of them even if you only 6 shield, no pi, no bloodlust.
I don’t want to math, but you can calculate yourself at dummy.

Wait was I reading the nerf wrong? I thought the atonement transfer was down 20%? Wouldn’t that mean the normal amount of shield you get from mind games is down 20% from before?

yeah.
So if you do SS 20k (no cap) for example, you will only do 16k.

I ACTUALLY DID lenience - was never top heals nut 2nd and 3rd sometimes.

but i had fun :frowning:

Dang you know it’s OP when it’s getting nerfed 20% and people are saying “this won’t change anything.”

If they really want to nerf it they need to reduce the HP % and make it a hard maximum not just a rolling cap you can exceed if people are taking damage during your rotation. All lowering the atonement transfer amount does is hurt lower geared players who aren’t reaching the cap anyhow.
