It turns out that in retail wow, if you want to deal normal damage with mind blast and shadow word: death you just need to apply 3 dots to the enemy, activate 2 cooldowns, and score a crit with mastermind and insidious ire talented! What amazing game design. Such interaction. Wow.
Turns out you have to play the spec properly to do damage with this spec. Such interaction. Amazing design. Wow.
Jokes aside, Shadow is kind of trash rn.
That’s a whole lot of hoops to jump through to do what those spells did on their own in past xpacs. It’s not like the damage is being turbo juiced by all of these preparations. They are simply required to activate normal average damage.
Oh no, I agree. Shadow has to do a checklist of things to get the same damage as some classes who just press a shiny whack-a-mole button.
I still enjoy it though. I find the spec to be fun but I would love some attention and potential fixes to the obvious issues we have.
While I’m not going to say that the current gameplay design of Shadow is fine - I don’t like it, myself - it’s pretty much just caster Havoc. Watch cooldowns, hit them in the correct priority as they come off, spend resources as necessary, win.
I want Surrender To Madness back.
