I feel like we should bring back usage of glyphs

The cosmetic ones that is, yes we still have em but I feel like blizzard should work on some in the future, say like an army of the dead one but it’s ghoulish murlocs.

Or slam ability causes a cracked earth on the target.
Or the paladin wings turn into dragon wings when they use that one ability.

Maybe even one where the shadow priest form turns into one of those undead shades?

Just my thoughts an suggestions on why we should have more glyphs

They need to add an option to graphics where you can disable additional cosmetic effects. I’m 100% down for this sort of thing but if I can’t deactivate it in content where 30+ people are around its not going to help in any way, the only place you really notice things like this are content involving smaller groups / solo

100% agree. I took Inscription specifically because of cosmetic glyphs, and it sucks that they basically dropped them after Legion (and then used PvPer complaints as a scapegoat).

They’d be a great way to provide further customization and personalization options for characters and classes, as well as revitalize the Inscription profession.

Am currently leveling in Classic WotLK. Started in mid - late Cata. The Vanilla-WotLK Combat Ark has an almost pen & paper feel. Cata-WoD Combat Arc is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE; totally glad I can’t figure out why. The glyphs in Cata were very fun to rotate through temporarily from the meta.

A LOT of people have been begging for them to revisit this in the past, Tombstone earth elementals for shamans, Wind focused cosmetics for warrior to give more of a blademaster feel. I’ve heard a ton of really good ideas, but it never happens and they won’t do it. Same reason they removed the observer from the warlock customization because some how its confusing to people in pvp? Who knows the real reason.

100% they need to be more added.

While I personally agree with this, I feel like an actual cosmetic system ie something like glyph of void turning all pally spells purple and void would never happen.

The kind of conclusion I have made over the years (to the detriment of their games) is that blizzard tries to make their games for everyone.

You can see this with the observer type changes, how they ran hots before it died, how they currently run d4/wow. Pretty much everyone laughed at them over the observer reasoning of “people will get confused”.

What those people missed is that there are people who drool on their keyboards to move, people who struggle with world content past like 340 ilvl, people who can’t hit a button every 3 seconds.

I could see an expansion on the current glyphs of change the pally wings to different wings but not a full on skin swap.

Glyphs have been woefully neglected for too long.

I think we can guess at the real reason pretty easily, lmao.

Just sucks they decided to throw PvPers under the bus as their scapegoat excuse.

I had to laugh seeing the promos for Wrath Classic trying to get people excited about inscription. It was like seeing a character introduced that you know is going to get murdered in a later episode.

New wings on a pally would be awesome. Even being able to have a different elemental on my sham would be good.

how about a passive paladin ability that lets you summon a murloc squire?

Love this. So many ways to add racial/cultural flavor with glyphs.

Draenei Paladins could have a Naaru pattern instead of wings.

Blood elves could have red wings of a Phoenix

Troll paladins could have primal, almost pterodactyl wings (even though Rezan was the Loa of Kings)

And so on…
