I feel like the game has taken a MASSIVE hit to performance. Could also use "real" Fullscreen option again?

I typically run my graphics very near minimum settings, with the sole exceptions being high-resolution Textures, and sometimes increasing Particle-effect density. A couple months ago, I was usually at like 110-ish FPS when standing around a less-crowded area of town or in dungeons. I never dipped below 60 FPS.

Now, my PC seems to be dancing around 30 FPS in totally isolated areas. In town, it’s dropping down to like 10-20 and becomes SUPER skippy. I haven’t even attempted a Mythic+, but I’m concerned.

It might be worth adding a very specific “Performance mode” setting, that sets everything to squeeze the absolute most amount of FPS out of the game. It’s one of the things I hate most about PC gaming, is that trying to play around with settings and figure out what gives you more or less performance just becomes extremely tedious.

I’ll say, when it comes to other games, I notice a MASSIVE difference in performance between “Fullscreen” and “Windowed-Fullscreen”. Like… Windowed-Fullscreen could be 30 FPS, and true Fullscreen jump up to 130+ FPS. It’s shocking to me that this function isn’t supported in WoW anymore; surprised that it’s gone.

People have been reporting this since prepatch started. Not sure what it is though. I personally haven’t experienced it, not yet at least.

it does feel worse, i feel like the game on my newer RX 6600 XT is running about the same it was earlier this year when I was still using the RX 580 and that kinda sucks because the 6600 XT is a beast compared to the 580, every game I play with it had a great improvement, except wow. Plays about the same.

Exclusive Fullscreen still exists. Edit: not anymore with 10…

It’s available w/ the DX11 renderer option.

You’ll have to reboot wow after selecting DX11 for it to repopulate, last I checked with 9.2.

Same goes for the AMD EQAA options for MSAA. They appear as 4x color 8x depth, etc. but only repopulate after rebooting wow after selecting DX11. They’re hidden with DX12.

If you’re trying to do SLI/Crossfire you’ll be using DX11 anyways.

Unfortunately, neither of those seem to work for me. I’ve tried rebooting after selecting both DX11 and “DX11 Legacy”. No “Fullscreen” option, only Fullscreen-Windowed.

Unsure what EQAA/MSAA options are, though.

Did they finally fully remove it for 10.0?

I remember needing to close out wow after selecting DX11 in game, otherwise these options wouldn’t appear in drop downs.

Exclusive fullscreen is also not available to me in DX11 or DX11 Legacy, even with a client restart.

Just checked. I was wrong, it’s been removed this month w/ prepatch.

Can confirm. Some developer really did remove exclusive fullscreen from DX11 and DX11 Legacy, as well as EQAA modes being missing under the MSAA dropdown w/ DX11.

This seems to be a 10.0 prepatch new issue. It was fine in shadowlands 9.

Straight up removed gfx options that were available only with DX11 for SL.

Yeah, honestly strange how hard it is to hit those solid framerates anymore. I’m running on a fairly dated laptop now, probably like 6 years old now, but it’s still 16gb of RAM, which is nothing to sneeze at. I have all of my settings at their minimum, have looked at countless possible issues with Windows as well, but I’m still sitting around 30 FPS just flying around completely empty zones like Elwynn Forest.

There’s a console command for this until they fix it:

/console SET GxAllowCachelessShaderMode “0”

Only place Ive notice a serious drop is Oribos.
It kills about 100fps for me just being there.

Yeah, Oribos is unplayable for me now, until I’ve been sitting there like 5+ minutes. I basically get one frame every couple of seconds, so I just avoid it at all costs.
