I Feel Like SoD Doomed Itself

With SoD being a seasonal thing, i feel like it doomed itself to fail. Most people don’t want to invest a lot of time into something that will end. That’s what was amazing about WoW in 2004-2006 range. It was advertised as an ever changing world. With classic, you just dont have an ever changing world and thats what made the game so interesting. There was always going to be “more contents”.

With SoD especially now, coming close to an end, most won’t just jump into it. I tried to get back into it, but just knowing that in wasting my time essentially pushed be away.

It is not ending. They stated the SoD servers will remain and continue to be supported. How much stuff comes after Naxx/Crusade only time will tell.

Holy hell i agree with Gskherald. LOL

They have mentioned the servers will continue on. What we get after that is anyone’s guess.

I honestly think Blizzard will have a few aces up their sleeve when content dries up.

Personally I think this is what they’ll do.

  • More Races - think Draenei and Blood Elves their starter zones and capitals can easily be added without a lot of TBC content involving Dark Portal and Outland.
  • Class/Race combinations - expanded Human Hunters etc
  • SoD Fresh - just like Anniversary Servers think SoD Fresh as a restart with quicker phases could also add new races and class combos aswell giving SoD a whole new look, how would the game turn out with Alliance Shamans and Horde Paladins from the start.

If SoD holds enough Subscribers = Income they definitely won’t let it die out just like Classic and Hardcore.

They’ll find a way to milk it. This is Blizzard.

When i say end, i don’t mean they’re going to shut down the servers. I mean they’re going to end the new content. They’ve already stated SoD is experimental. If anything, i hope it leads to a true classic+ and not What SoD has turned into.

If you dont want to invest a lot of time into somethin that will end then dont bother with life at all.

the counter argument is there are plenty of largely successful games that have temporary modes/seasons. it also fits into the enjoy the journey aspect of classic.

blizzard has been iterative with their seasons. SoD is better than SoM. hopefully the next iteration will continue this trend.

…brutal,/10 chars…

Maybe retail is your Game, tons of jun k content comming.

That’s different though. Investing time in myself not only makes my life easier, but my loved ones as well and will continue to benefit them even after im gone.

My investment in WoW, will not.

Plus, not having to worry about being able to pay any bill, and literally having no debt is pretty dope.

Best case scenario the servers live on like era.
Worst case we get the option to move to era at the end.
Both options your character will live on in some form.
