Title. Why do I need a wheelchair in the form of an Evoker to baby me around a fight when every other class has far more mobility? Like why bring a priest to a high movement fight?
Something something stam buff, something something PI
Oh wow so 5% extra hp that doesn’t make any difference is the reason we have to be rocks. We have game design prodigy here
It’s actually pretty insulting that a 5% more stamina buff is considered a “Hero” talent.
If it HAS to be a talent, it should be in the class tree.
Its funny that Discipline Priests don’t have enhanced Stamina when you think back as it was the Discipline Tree that has Improved Fortitude in the classic talent trees lol.
You’ll use your three charges of wheelchair nitrous and you’ll like it sir.
What was that ability that acted as a small sprint and also stealth?
It does seem very odd to me that blizzard has declared certain classes like priests can’t have things like shining force or mobility due to class balance reasons, but then add tons of additional mobility and utility to other classes like Evoker.
For Priests?
Well in MoP and WoD we had Spectral Guise that allowed us to stealth for up to 6 seconds unless our true self (Shadow we left behind) gets attacked by 3 abilities prior to the 6 second stealth duration. But it never gave us a speed boost… however if you pre place your Angelic Feather on the ground, you can run into them while stealthed to get some serious distance before popping back out of stealth.
I loved doing Ashran in WoD where I can get behind the enemy lines and start causing Havoc upon all the back line healers with a fear opening followed by a Silence and Psychic Horror and then using the Divine Ascension Ashran class spell you can get to fly away and then disperse while doing so.
That caused the enemy team to turn their sights on me while their healers were disoriented which allowed my team to start to tear into them and we essentially either carve out a lot of the enemy team or completely dismantle their lines and they simply crumble.
It was very fun.
Otherwise if I got the Ancient Artifact, I just become a god with Clarity of Power and mixed with Legendary Ring and killing the geode which granted a temporary power boost, I can unleash a Cascade that just wreaked the entire enemy team while still able to run and gun and pick people off with near or total one shots.
But since then…
- Lost Spectral Guise
- Lost Cascade
- Lost Instant cast Mind Spike procs
- Angelic Feather is a measly 40% down from 80% in MoP and 60% in WoD
- Lost the Run and Gun playstyle that Clarity of Power offered
Sad times to say the least.
Peak shadow priest game play!!! 10.0 was super fun as well, until they “reworked” the spec because too many buttons procing.
Here’s the cope and the doom:
Cope:
They are working on classes alphabetically and the inclusion of rogue changes in 11.0.5 implies that priest changes will be revealed in some upcoming patch notes.
Doom:
They are working on classes alphabetically and their inclusion of rogue changes implies that they feel priest is perfectly designed and needs no changes…
But P comes before R
And the datamine shows changes to Holy
And if you’re going based on spec changes were made to Subtlety and Shadow comes before that alphabetically
Ah yeah I was thinking of spectral guise. I didn’t play priest in WoD so I didn’t know the details of it. I thought it gave a small speed boost too.
That was a really cool spell. I feel like they could bring it back as a short to medium cooldown escape / mobility option. Priests need cool stuff
That extra stamina is for you only iirc.
I understand, but it still doesn’t seem like it should reside as a “hero talent”.
It’s a lack of imagination and creativity to be honest, like really? More health and it takes a talent to get? Also if it’s meant for just the priest, why restrict it to Power Word: Fortitude instead of just a passive stamina increase? Meaning a simple offensive dispel quite literally removes the entire bonus of that hero talent.
It’s just awful in both placement within the hero talents and implementation with it being tied to fortitude and creativity bankrupt because it’s not interesting at all, it’s just lazy and only exists to fill a quota of talents that was needed to come up with and because this is what they choose to include is all the evidence needed to know that it was a rushed talent tree with little insight on anything cool that they could have gone with instead.
The fact that it was one of the last talent trees to be shown and it was towards the very end of alpha if not beta is just another slap in the face as the time for iteration was basically null since the tiny amount of time they did spend was on Oracle which really didn’t address the core issues at hand.
Just back to back failures all over the place when it comes to Priest for not just TWW but going on for many years now for the better part of a decade.
Holy sh*t, is that right? I just re-read the tooltip and it clearly says YOU. I didn’t even realize this is only giving the buff to us. What a god awful node to put in a HERO talent tree.
They make us give Power Infusion to other people and balance us around that.
They give ONLY THE PRIEST more health with the actual group buff Power Word: Fortitude buff if you pick Archon.
Why does it seem at every turn we are designed with a backwards mindset?
Don’t you feel like a Hero yet with such an amazing talent like that? lol
Did you see where it gives you a bonus to your PI? Not them, you.
This hit like a ton of bricks.
It’s insane to look at things like that in our hero tree and just ponder on how lazy, bad, and insulting things like that are for classes.
Why do we have a hero talent that is 5% more stam on the priest alone? This should be part of another talent that grants its effect AND +5% stam on fort on the priest themselves, or even just baseline?! Why does it also happen to be on a dispellable buff that only affects yourself?!
Why do we have talents that take life from friendly players to heal ourselves if we’re lower? On that topic, why did all the vampirism thematic of shadowpriest get given to Blood DKs spare for a few remaining hold out class staples from vanilla/bc?
Why do we have a new talent that makes targets of SWP do an insignificantly small reduction in damage to us from that target?
Why, why, why, why?
I get frustrated every time I think about how the class I’ve played over the course of 20 years has become such a shadow (no pun intended) of its’ former self, with it casting a longer and wider shadow as time goes on.
I know that the spec/class isn’t unplayable, but any time I hop on any alt that’s seen attention during alpha/beta and post launch, I have to look at it and say to myself that it’s not unplayable, but playing it sure isn’t as fun as it used to be, that’s for certain.
First 4 on Mythic have a lot of movement, but then you get to Ovi’nax, and it’s the first proper fight where you can plant as Holy and don’t need to move around much.
The mobility goes a little farther when you alternate feather & Body n soul.
