I feel like HP shouldn't be tied to gear

I don’t really know an alternative cos having everyone be the same HP doesn’t sound like a good solution either, but I do know it feels really bad to be doing low DPS and getting one shot by everything when you’re a freshly capped character.

Just a random thought I had, I wonder what it would be like if gear was just for increasing performance rather than performance and survivability, what do you think?

I mean… they’ve kind of dabbled with that by attaching stam increases to borrowed power.

At the end of the day though I think SOME hp needs to be tied to gear.

Yeah, maybe. I think it’s just how much of it is there bothers me. You go from like 20k to 50k from gear alone atm. Wonder if there’s a way to not have such a big HP gap.

Honestly, the % increases from the borrowed power exacerbate it, it’s a messy situation.

I feel like the damage you do should also not be tied to gear. It’s tough to do damage on a freshly leveled character.

Thanks for the post! Why do you feel that way? Do you not agree this could at least be improved somewhat? The gap is quite large.

I like power (hp, throughput, etc) being tied to gear. It’s all the other layers of systems/power that bother me.

Gear levels should be synced in RandomBGs, Arena Skirmishes.

No I don’t. This game is about progressing your character. We’re now getting to the end of the second tier. Fresh 60s shouldn’t be on the same level as characters that have been playing since launch.

There are plenty of catch up mechanics in game.

I don’t think it’s stupid to make the gap in HP a little smaller so people can actually get gear without everything in the game one shotting them, that’s all. No one is taking away your massive advantage over those players for being geared.

It reads as sarcastic, but I don’t think the two can really be disconnected. If everyone has the same HP then it goes from fresh 60s being oneshot to everyone being oneshot as damage increases. You’d basically have to introduce a new damage mitigation stat, which… Winds up with the same problem you’re expressing in the OP.

Guess it’s just an MMO thing that can’t really go away. Just seems weird that low item level people have to play perfectly and still probably die in content, when geared people, who earned gear, are probably a higher skill level due to that so the gap is just even bigger. Don’t really know how to word it, just always feel bad seeing lowbies dying so easily to no fault of their own. Past expansions didn’t feel as egregious as SL with this to me, and can’t quite place why.
