I feel like a child; I can't pick any DPS that makes me happy

But I was invited by a RL friend to their mythic raiding group because they did pull up my [unnamed game because it causes people to go aggro as heck] profile and saw my stuff and wanted me on their team.

Problems?

I come from [unnamed game because it causes people to go aggro as heck].

I play summoner, black mage, machinist and bard and a few other DPS classes. I am notorious for flipping mains at the drop of a dime. With enough practice I get 90th percentile in them easily in raids. Hence I’ve been shoehorned into the DPS slot even there.

But the problem? The only character I have TRULY stuck with through heck or high water is Scholar and Astrologian. I love healing playstyles and it’s been truly amazing to play them.

I flipping LOVE resto druid. The way HoTs and DoTS with catweaving works is so rewarding and engaging to me I could play it all day long.

On the other hand disc I’ve found really neat but also very boring. I genuinely don’t find it hard, idk if it’s because I am so over the “press 1 DoT and then spam 1” nonsense. Which shadowword pain and then spamming smite really does become.

But I’m struggling for it.

Also shadow while interesting; doesn’t hold my interest nearly 1/4th as much as summoner. I’ve tried and tried to enjoy it and even with the rework it just doesn’t feel as epic.

Now I’ve tried other DPS like balance-- and balance druid? TERRIBLEE!!!

HORRIBLE!!!

I genuinely think balance druid is the worst designed ranged DPS I’ve ever played. EVER. The eclipse system where I need to spam slow cast AOE abilities to unlock my single target buff is TRAGIC. Then I need to spam AOE abilities after spamming single target?

I HATE BALANCE DRUID. HATEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

I’ve tried it month ago and hated it on PTR. I’ve tried it over the past few days to level and I HATE IT.

Warlock is fine but affliction warlock feels really boring, it’s like 2.0 Scholar without the healing component. :\ apply 3 DoTS => spam malefic rapture. It just … doesn’t feel good.

Demonology warlock feels neat but I also feel like I am a turret placed down and very very very immobile. If I had to pick one DPS though demonology might be the one.

Destruction is VERY cool. I am surprised how much I enjoyed this. Although part of me is very worried because if they nerf the infernals talent I might feel my interest wain.

Oddly enough protection paladin is hilariously fun to me. But that’s a tank. And in comparison to that, retribution paladin feels really bad to me. I have no idea why but protection paladin feels like KING to me. Tank tho rip. Holy paladin is fun but another healer rip -_-

MW monk feels absolutely epic. But that’s another healer… and is undertuned right now :expressionless:

Anyhow enough of that. My point is I feel screwed.

I love cat weaving resto and everything else feels really meh.

Too late. The conflagration began at the mere mention of their class structure, and that you can play one character to achieve any class.

I’m beginning to bedew myself with spittle thinking about the weaving of their GCD structure and how the idea of Torghast was taken directly from Palace of the Dead…

You’ve already given it away with all of the class references, so people know exactly which game you are talking about already.

“Black Mage” alone tells people it’s a Final Fantasy game.

How even now the once virile landscape of Azeroth has become permanently marred and tainted by the Main Quest structure, as Blizzard thought the War Campaign would become an engaging system for players to level through the game.

I literally play both of these games. Also destro is ridiculously fun in my opinion if you had it pick one.

Except POTD was never a weekly requirement to spend hours in.

Nor have I been permastunned in POTD.

Also Torghast doesn’t have the necromancer title or the actually difficult goal of clearing it’s top floor.

It’s the equivalent to a garbage POTD. It’s like palace of the sad.

I find the jobs/classes/whatever in FFXIV to be incredibly boring. Maybe just 2 different games for 2 different types of players.

I’m in the same boat except I just came back from FFXIV because it was so boring. Though I’ve played both for years. FFXIV to me lives and dies on you having friends to play with you. It’s so freaking boring on it’s own. At least Wow has more options though I’m finding the unpruning to be largely a waste of time.

FFXIV players love to hate on us all day long so they think we hate them. When in actuality, most of us don’t care. Anyway in relation to OP, I am gonna say that you are an alt lover. Being an alt lover isn’t bad, per se, but you want to be a mythic raider as an alt lover and that’s where you’ll find problems. To be honest, you already named your favorite class. If Resto Drood “is so rewarding and engaging” that you “could play it all day long” then that’s your WoW main. Doesn’t matter that you hate Balance. My main is Mage and I never cared for Arcane. I don’t play Arcane. I main Fire. And when I raid, that’s what you’ll see me as.

Maybe you’re just weird. WoW is a better game, I get that you like casual games where you don’t have to commit to one class. WoW is not going to be that game.

WoW is still better, I fail to see how any systems were cloned either. FFXIV is a story game. Nobody actually knows what you do in it.
