I feel confused playing feral druid

I feel so confused playing feral. I hit rake out of stealth like ‘BAM, GOTCHA’, then a few globals later I’m out of stamina.

Berserk doesnt feel like I’m going berserk. I feel like an energy starved rabid cat.

If the play is now to just let bleeds do the work I don’t feel it. I feel like I’m just letting my stats do the talking. If my stats are trash, then my dps is trash. That’s how it feels anyway.

It’s like feral is stuck between a biting maniac and a evil bleed master.

The only thing that buffs the bleeds is TF and it doesnt flow right to be a heavy bleed build.

I’m not a novice at feral but I’m no expert. I really love the spec it just plays wonky.

Trying to keep this from just being a rant, is there any interesting build you’ve found that makes the spec feel good?

Well, for one thing, TF is not the only thing that buffs bleeds.
Bloodtalons does as well, and is very designed around bleeds.
Stealth (and Stealth equivalent during Berserk) buffs rake.

I agree that Berserk feels weird to use now, but a lot of it is planning your energy. Use TF to refill, remember that you will refill energy during Convoke, which is OK to cast during Berserk.

Try and use Omen procs on higher energy abilities like Shred. Don’t expect to hit something every GCD. At least not at current gear levels.

If you want the spec to feel smoother, run either Cat Eye+MoC, or try running Feral Frenzy. BT is clunky, especially with current haste. You may not oomph quite as hard, but it will feel better.

Mokun speaks a point, i myself run MoC + cats eye, and i switch out predator with sabertooth for single target boss fights, and stick with predator on bosses with adds, whenever your MoC procs use thrash for a higher energy return than shred, if you run brutal slash instead of primal wrath, DO NOT USE MoC on Brutal Slash it’s almost a energy loss, always use it on thrash.

Gear also matters.
You need enough haste to smooth energy regen. Enough crit to get consistent combo generation.

You can check out my talents and gear, I’m pure bleed build and even went necrolord

Feral rotation without owlweaving is the spec with the most downtime by a HUGE margin. If you go on simcraft and check out their 226 ilvl sim, you can see downtime and normal feral has 26% downtime the next closest is prot warrior at 15%.

It can do good damage but it just feels real bad to be doing nothing for so long. You can alleviate this by doing owlweaving to keep up moonfire/sunfire and that helps fill in a lot of empty GCDs but it can arguably feel even worse since shifting that often can feel super clunky.

Idk if youve been into pvp or you’re even talking about that but after messing around in pvp in my ferals leveling build i decided to look up some guides to get a boost in dmg.

this rotation and build is what helped make things feel a lot more smooth/fun. i run resto afin cause i like wpvp and random bgs lol. simply pump until you need to heal your self or see a good restealth/reset opportunity with travel form/soulshape>feral charge away>heal/restealth. i feel pretty invincible and hardly have to use my actual defensives.

both vids start at the rotation so you can just see if it looks smooth enough for ya’ xD and they’re pretty much saying the same thing with different levels of detail.

Personally, I really like that Feral is Energy capped rather than GCD capped. It means that we have plenty of opportunity to fit in utility like Predatory Swiftness procs, Remove Corruption, Soothe and so on without sacrificing DPS. Even if you pop out to cast something, it’s a minimal DPS loss as long as you’re not capping energy or letting something fall off. If you find yourself routinely not pressing buttons for extended periods of time, there’s probably more you could be doing for your group.

If only soothe had a good use in PvP, I was using it against a furry warrior the other day but he would get the rage buff back immediately. Is there anything else that can be purged? Only thing I’ve been able to is the battleground buff and warriors

Snupy is a good teacher. I learned a lot from his content when I came back to game during BFA. New stuff looks great too.

It’s useful for keeping yourself or an enemy in combat without leaving cat form

And for getting rid of warrior spell reflect without leaving cat form

Thrash and Shred both cost 40 energy

I always use lunar inspiration but if I can use soothe while in bear form that’s a great idea, I taunted a rogue the other day but still eventually lost combat while I was forced to sit bear and chase

…wait, doesn’t feral have a 90s CD on moonkin form, though?

Upon release of SL, it became instant. So nice.

They don’t. Shred costs 40 Energy, but Swipe is only 35.

I never said anything about swipe lol. I said thrash and shred both cost 40 energy which is true. So using OoC procs on shred or thrash is the same value in terms of energy.

You’re right. I fail at reading. My bad. >_<

End of the day feral is dooky butt in m+ which is fine, never going to be possible to have every spec good at all the content available, I’d be down if they just commited PvP and PvE specs like before, for example arms being better at PvP and fury at PvE
