I think the title speaks for itself. Saw several discord messages from era yesterday. Raid leaders being mean and dismissive of players who didnt perform at the top level. You make a compromise to take hours out of your day a week just to be walking on eggshells during a raid. Youre logging on and planning to get your world buffs, even buying them. Paying so much for consumes. Having your logs scanned by an fbi agent. This is just a game. Thats why i dont even raid anymore. I just log on whenever i have time or feel like it and do little things that i like. Theres a life outside this game. Some people play it 7 days a week raiding on friday and saturday night religiously when they could be going out with friends or spending time with family. And all for what? To have someone treat you badly after? No thanks
Itās not that I am incapable of sympathy/empathy but individuals who choose to raid at that level should be aware of what the expectations are prior to agreeing to do so and acknowledge that there is a very real possibility of either witnessing or being subjected to the type of behavior you describe. Of course, nothing justifies the sort of behavior youāre describing but if someone continues to subject themselves to that sort of treatment, itās difficult for me to feel bad for them.
āWalkedā away from a situation like that myself during the original run of TBC. I am capable of raiding at any level but as Iāve gotten older, I now gravitate more towards semi-hardcore raids with a more laid-back, casual atmosphere both in guild and in Discord. I did my time being yelled at serving in the Army, Iām absolutely not going to subject myself to the verbal abuse from some snot-nosed college kid or some middle-age dead-beat with anger issues.
If you find yourself in one of these situations, do yourself a tremendous favor and walk away from it. When things begin to feel like a job that you arenāt being paid for, it is absolutely time to reevaluate why you play the game, how you derive joy from it and ask yourself how you can continue to do so or if you just need to wipe your hands clean of it altogether.
yup. the tryhard culture on shamiversary is awful
come to era. better people here
I feel bad for people who have played this same game for 20 years yet still continually see phase 2 rag (i didnt even know he had a phase 2).
Let me ask you guys this question which type of guild is really more casual, the one clearing mc in 30 to 40 minutes or the one hardstuck on domo after 2 hours that then comes back the next raid night of the week to wipe another 2 hours thus totalling 4 hours a week.
youāre not clearing MC in 30 minutes on shamiversary nor do casual guilds always wipe and take 3+ hours. the delta between tryhards and casual is more akin to like 20 minutes of clear time lol
Im just asking whos more ācasualā the one shot under an hour clears or the 2 nights a week 4 plus? I suppose a person could argue as long as both grouos are having fun what does it matter? I agree with that sentiment though.
But the discussion at hand by the op is that he feels sorry for ātry hardsā maybe people enjoy try harding, why get mad about it?
REMINDER: casual tryhard Eyr still wipes raids on Emeriss in #TheCurrentYear
Yeah i get huge boomer vibes from reading his posts, i couldnt imagine participating in a hobby for 20 years that i supposdly enjoy yet still being complete and utter dog water at it.
Ive seen it on era too. The messages I read were all on era discords. And its usually Naxx. So competitive to get in and stay in. I guess personally iāve reached a point where I dont care about that anymore. And the most fun I have is usually leveling a new character doing dungeons quests and farming gold. I already did the late night raiding thing so much im burnt out and over it.
you couldnāt kill emeriss with 15 people either
was this recently? the tryhards are all on shamiversary nowadays
Being āmean and dismissiveā could mean anything really, hard to feel empathy to such vague descriptions
Could range from someone writing cold and stern messages with punctuation to someone being a complete a***ole
Maybe some details would help
Them vanilla logs doe
Ive seen it all. Cussing and yelling at people on discord. Putting people on public blacklists. Leaving messages after a failed naxx with curse words and telling the people who messed up to never come back.
I feel bad for them to, It sucks to have to deal with players like you.
Its not a compromise. Its a privilege. You are putting no effort in vs raid leaders who have to do a ton of behind the scenes work making sure there is a raid to come to every week.
Some people obviously not great, but if a raid is to sweaty for you join a different one⦠If every raid is too sweaty for you, you are probably really really bad and put a strain on everyone you play with.
you have no idea the blood, sweat, and tears i put into this game every week to shave off 20 minutes of clear time
Recruiting and baby sitting 39 other people every week is the most brain numbing thing on the planet. And I am glad I donāt have to do it. It is legitimately a privilege to not be responsible for that.
Obviosuly about as much as you do irl based off the fact youāre perputally on the forums 24/7 with all that time being a NEET though one would expect you to at least be good at the game.
He also has at least 1 known alt that has another 4k+ posts on it lol.
Geeeeezus lmao
