I honestly really like the drakthyr. They have so much customization I know I’ll be able to make a cool looking dragon person. But gonna be honest, their visage forms look goofy to me. They just aren’t my thing. No hate on them, I just want to be a dragon.
I think the change I’m really hoping they make before release is allowing Drakthyr to mount in dragon form and equip armor probably excluding maybe capes because of their wings, and full shoes like all bestial races.
If you wonder why a creature with wings would use a mount its the same logic behind a worgen riding a horse instead of running wild. Who cares.
The less i have to use visage form (ideally never), the better. Especially considering the “reasoning” we cant be mounted in dragon form sounds more like an excuse(shocking) than an actual reason.
It makes no sense to me because their bodies dont seem any more complicated than worgen, other than the wings. And they have put so much effort into their customization, why would they wanna limit it?
If it goes live like that there will be no drakthyr in dragon form in transmog contests and things like that ):
Theres a bug in the alpha right now that lets them stay in dragon form when on a 2 seater. From what i saw they just do their standing idle animation on it and don’t have a riding animation.
So 1 of 3 things in regards to the dragons can’t mount reasoning they said:
They had to give that as the reason because the animation isn’t done/implemented, so later down the line they can say hey, we hear you, you can now stay in dragon form on mounts.
They gave that as a reason to just…not do it…enjoy your visage form.
Bug could have no correlation at all.
Im hoping for #1, track record however still has #2 itching at the back of my mind.
You may not want to be in visage form… but with the direction they seem so dead set on taking the dragon form… I don’t want to be in dragon form or except when flying.
I wish you could just make any core race as your visage form would be so much cooler and thematic since dragons can take any form they desire. If not at least give us a visage form with eyebrows lol
A lot of this just feels like time and engine limitations. Would it be awesome to choose a visage modeled after any of the playable races? Sure. It would also take a ridiculous amount of time and paid hours and, frankly, I’d rather the expansion not just be a dracthyr DLC.
I think that advocating for extra visage forms isn’t too bad. I think a compromise could be made to eventually add it. Personally if they did that I wouldn’t have many issues with the race.
I think the reason they might be separated is because how mogging is set up. You can’t hide pant in normal mogs, and that would suck for the Dracthyr if you HAD to show pants. Or even worse, if they slapped underwear on em.
Aww, thank you. Your Draenei is pretty too. I don’t see a lot of Lightforged around, but I always thought they looked neat.
And yeh, the toggle was the best option, honestly. When you add a race with two forms, there are always gonna be people who prefer one or the other. And with how often teh Dracthyr switched, it just ended up annoying both camps.
Perhaps they can add spectral features that will allow you to do more in combat with Visage too, though that might be more work.
" In the next build, Dracthyr will no longer switch to Visage when getting on a mount, flight path, etc. Additionally, they will have a new racial ability called Chosen Identity that you can “Activate to automatically assume your Visage when you leave combat or after Soaring.” Chosen Identity will stay toggled on until manually deactivated. As a note, existing Alpha characters may not have Chosen Identity learned."
They dont need underwear because they wouldnt have exposed junk like most of the other races would, so they could keep the option to transmog pants off if they wanted but also allow them to wear most armor. Taking transmog away is a huge part of the game and not seeing sets people come up with to look good on dragons will be a real shame imo.
