You would think after 20 years, they’d understand the concept of under sell, over deliver but no.
If Blizz said “Mainteance this Tuesday. 0700 PST until 1400 PST” and then brought them back up two hours later, they’d be heroes.
Easy win #4,000 that Blizz deprives themselves of.

I was more referring to the fact that they should start telling people it’s going to be 10 hours long and then complete it in six hours. It would just go over better.

Eventually some YouTuber would catch on and say that Blizz is playing the small indie company card again. I’d like to believe that would be an automatic win but I don’t think the general community is capable of recognizing it.
The problem being all the WoW centric YouTubers have fallen down the outrage-centric regressive world view rabbit hole/grift.

I personally hate social media influencers…and I really dislike youtubers…
I get some are just doing it cause they enjoy what they are doing for the subject but far to many are just doing something for the LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME GIMME MONEY!

As someone who has worked both as the beleaguered backend dev person who didn’t interface with clients and also the beleaguered, client-facing project manager who had to translate dev updates into something more PR-like, I can say with certainty that the server admin room of Blizzard HQ actually sounds like

I just know that in my workplace if we had extended times on multiple deployments in a row that we’d be in multiple meetings for RCA and all of our deployments would be on hold until the issue was fixed. This is likely just bad database design and/or really bad deployment practices. Neither of these things should be present for a company the size and scale of Blizzard/Activision/Microsoft.
