So they datamined that we are going to get back Skull Banner. I really don’t want warrior to go into a support/banner type role. If we have Conqueror’s Banner (think that was datamined? Don’t remember) and Skull Banner I think blizzard will try to make us go back to all the banners. I forget which era it was(maybe mop?), but warrior had a few banners and I hated it.
Rant over, continue on.

Banners could be cool, fits the warrior theme and would be nice if they provided good buffs that only warriors can bring. It’s nice to be wanted.

Well, then there’s something like Havoc.

Why would you ever not want to bring more benefits to group content on your character?

Idk if you played then, or maybe you’d just forgotten, but those banners were awesome not just for ourselves but for our groups. It’s nice being versatile and bringing something to the table for a raid or group. Makes us more wanted, which is something we’ve struggled with for years.

Havoc doesn’t get to use a shield
If I wanted to be support I would play healer or druid
Warrior has always been symbiotic/supportive.

Uh, how? At most we have 10% attack power buff and max hp increase… Warrior is more of a pumper than a support

I guess something you’ve never been
A healer is not the same thing as having support for your group. If rogues go live with the CD reduction talent, that’s a HUGE group support mechanic that will make them desirable and no one is going to complain that they are “too” supportish.
I think the real question will be more about what we have to give up or spec into to get the option and if it’s on the GCD or not.
Sure, a support is not always a healer. But supports usually mean you don’t do good damage, which is the opposite of what a dps wants. A rogue pressing cloak doesn’t really give up anything, but as you said:
They will try to crank down warrior’s damage as to not make us too strong because of the buffs we bring.

You must be new to warrior or something.

I dabble in it for most of my time playing WoW, but from all the things I remember Warrior has always been one of the top dps, no?
No, not exactly. Just because a class has good utility and versatility doesn’t mean that they can’t absolutely crank.
Warriors always had a pretty good utility kit up until the great WoD pruning. Since then we’ve been less desirable than other classes who actually bring something to the group. And even since then we’ve had a pretty solid kit in PvP.

Well I think blizzard wouldn’t see it that way. Having huge banner damage increases while also almost being top dps is too many things loaded into 1. We can’t even get prot warrior to have on par ways to deal with magical damage as the other tanks…
I don’t disagree with your theory. The issue is that right now we’re not top dps. And if we’re comparable dps to say, a warlock, a shaman, a rogue, a druid, a mage, we don’t get invited because those classes bring support and utility that we do not.

That’s pretty much what happened in MoP. Plus look at other classes right now. Warlocks, shamans, druids, etc etc all bring pretty good utility to a group, while doing good DPS.
Just because we have utility, doesn’t mean our DPS has to suck. Think you’re looking at it the wrong way. Banners were great when we had them. And I think they’d be a good addition again.
Again, historically warriors have been a pretty good support class while doing decent damage. Has never really been too heavily lopsided one way or another.
No, not nesscearily. You can do solid damage while providing support through whatever means.
I think adding more flavour to the class is a good thing. For raiders I can somewhat see an argument for raid buffs limiting spots but still if every class was neutral in what they bring there would be no flavour to a class and to me that is boring. If you find that playstyle fun, have at er’. But, I think if the datamining is true and its an option and not 100% mandatory talent that everyone would have to go out of the way to pick then I’m all for options.
