Virtually every pre-expansion event is designed to help returning players. That’s how Blizzard makes its money, so it makes perfect sense.
Even if it is negligiably better for people with alts, 99% of the game is designed to limit people to one or two characters. I don’t understand the uproar about a single time-limited event that represents the 1 time out of a hundred that it’s better to play alts.

people love to complain for something that we won’t remember in two weeks

Because even though it’s better for alts, the amount of time investment needed to do anything is absurd.
If you clear searing gorge on one character, then log into an alt, you can’t do searing gorge again immediately. You have to sit and wait for an hour+ for the next map to open.
Also, not everyone has an army of alts and infinite time to sit and wait around for hours on end doing nothing while waiting for an event spawn.

ick…if what I saw yesterday is to help new or returning players, personally it feels like a huge fail.
I did ONE run and got annoyed just that fast.
Conversely I loved the BFA, SL and DF prepatch events, if that says anything.

It’s not just “negligibly better” though. The weekly quests and boss kills provide the vast majority of residual memories. Someone like me who plays 5 alts gets 5x the RM of someone with only one character. I can understand why they’re salty about it.

It’s a timed event for alts that requires you to play multiple alts to be able to gear a single one.

Doesn’t the gear warband?
The gear you get as a random drop, yes. The gear you get from the chests once a week from the first boss is soulbound not warbound.
Also, you could end up unlucky and get 15 maces like I have so far. So the drops aren’t even remotely guaranteed to be anything good.
the drops also are not based on the character. Since I got three of those maces on a demon hunter that can’t even use them.

Ah. Gotcha. That with the pointless time gating on a time limited event as usual is just not helpful to the players for sure…
It as usual with events doesn’t seem well thought out nor actually tested and likely were not really tested since most rather play the beta

The Legion one was amazing for levelling!

What’s funny is the event is on the beta.
It was just broken so the end event boss wouldn’t spawn.
I submitted a bug report about the low memory drop rate on the smaller adds because I just assumed that a 1-2 memory drop had to be a bug and not the intended thing lol

When early access has the same issues I have this thread bookmarked.

Ugh… They just botched it and if they wanted testers they need to incentivise players to want to do it…
They should have offered rewards via quest chain in this not just another mindless zerg grind.
It’s not fun, I did one zone and was immediately turned off. Just back to keys when I can manage not to fall asleep at the keyboard. Lol
hey people decided to pay hundreds of dollars to test run the game . it’s kinda their fault

Hundreds? It was only a 10-20$ difference. Lol
Yes but it shouldn’t reach that point for BlizZard to fix their game.

Oof, if I was returning to this mess, I would unsub again the same day lol.
isn’t the epic version $40 more expensive ? also some people purchased the statue version but it was not offering access and purchased the epic version too ?

Ha. I didn’t say it was well-designed. It’s ridiculous. I’m just irritated by the “alt” complaint.
After years of not having time to play alts because I was stuck doing endless grinds on my main, it drives me crazy to see people complain endlessely about one thing in the game being negligiably better for alts.

This sounds like almost every mount/pet/cosmetic farm in the game.
BoA and shared account progress/use inherently boosts the amount alts are helpful.
Not saying this is good or bad, just what it’s been for a long time.
