I don't understand 20th Anniversary Pet Battles

I go there last night, walk by Pet Battle area and a pop-up message says to beat Setimothes in a battle. There was no (!) over him, but I did it anyway, twice. Neither time was there any acknowledgement, prize…nothing.

Today, there are two bosses up, both with a blue (!). I chose Goz Banefury, beat him, and again, nothing. Well…not nothing, I got a notice from the Adventurers Log that I had beat 3 trainers. Also, Goz Banefury still has a blue (!), like I can do it again.

Finally, last night, the two wins moved my progress bar for “Participate in Activities” quest. Today, nothing, and I’m at 98% and was hoping to go over. It’s all just odd to me. Is it bugged or working as intended?

i dont think they count for the progress bar-------------

Edit–MY BAD, they DO count!

I did both pet battles dailies and got no credit on the progress bar.

I was at 62%, did both battles, and still at 62%.

Looks like the only reward is 23g, making these not worth doing.

Kind of surprised the Pet Battles at the Darkmoon Fair are more rewarding than the Pet Battles for WoW’s 20th Anniversary event.

They should be giving celebration tokens per week just like the other stuff!

My frustration is why is the reward only 23g 40s for completing the pet battle quests for the anniversary event? Not even a pet battle box with tokens or a chance at a pet that is available during the event… SOMETHING.

Was very surprised that the battles themselves didn’t give some advancement on the weekly bar quest. I’ve heard after you’ve gathered 100 bronze tokens (account wide) that more dailies and things open. Hopefully they’ll start awarding stuff then.

One pet related thing that does give completion points though is the pet mirror from the chest. While you’re transformed as your pet every 10 seconds or so you’ll gain a point towards 100% on the bar. And if you chase around the park area picking up the treats you’ll gain more.

Once the transform wears off after 10 mins. you’ll need to loot the mirror from the chest again. The toy version of the mirror doesn’t work for this, you need to keep looting the one in the chest.

Also if you go to one of the spots with the ball on the ground and stand on the ball as a mirrored pet, the ball will bounce back and forth at you and give full quest completion in about 6 minutes.

Video of one of my alts doing it tonight:

Yeah i came here for this…ive done them every day…no progress on bar but i thought surely there has to be something to it like some achieve or something…just a bit of gold …i even thought maybe we could capture the pets. (wishful thinking) maybe they forgot to put a loot bag on these guys who knows but def a let down …oh well

yeah, i’m suprised there’s no currency for completing these… it feels like they just forgot to add it.

They aren’t completely useless for me, at least. If you don’t have the Awfully Big Adventure or The Longest Day achievements, you can get credit towards those here without traveling all over the world. I also got a satchel of pet supplies from one.

You can also do two-pet leveling strats with them, or just get character XP doing the battles.

I agree they should give progress towards the XP buff event quest, at least.

Also, another thing I noticed, the battlers vary by alt. I had Okrut and Gutretch from Northrend on some and Nearly Headless Jacob and Major Payne on others. It also appears they reset at random times, not daily. My NPC timer said the current ones were up for 8 hours, so they had spawned at 4am EST. Quests are still once per day per account though.

I’ve managed to buy all the pets available with Timewarped Badges. But I still have to purchase the Lil Doomy’s Hilt and Baby Blizzard Bear.

Problem is, I can’t seem to get any more quests with the Bronze Celebration Tokens as a reward. I took the quest for the Blackrock Raid, which rewards tokens, but I can’t find this raid on my LFR.

I’m disappointed that the pet battlers here offer nothing in the way of Rewards, but at least Squirt is here so I was able to level up all the pets I have so far, plus all the pets I got from Hallow’s End. (I managed to buy one of each pet.)

Also, the Guest Relations Secret Event:

So you don’t see this when viewing the Raid listings?

Yes, I do see this. But that’s not the name of the raid (Disturbance Detected: Blackrock Depths) in the Quest.

ETA. Never mind. I see it now. The name of the boss I want is in the third raid. And I just got enough for Lil Doomy!

Interesting. Another pet with the Weakening Blow attack. So, now I have something else for my capture teams.

I’m not seeing a moveset on Baby Blizzard Bear. Is it a non-combatant pet? If so, that’s a waste. There could be some nice ice-based attacks, like Call Blizzard, Ice Lance, Tomb or Deep Freeze, plus some bear abilities like Bash and Hibernate.

What a waste of a pet.

There is one. I’d describe it as “Bear, with a chance of Call Blizzard”

which seems pretty obvious and appropriate.

Ask, and you shall receive.

Thanks very much.

I guess I’ll have to do some more, as Baby Blizzard Bear is the last pet I have to get. I have one of each of everything else.

I recall saying once, that since I wasn’t here for the event that released the Molten Corgi, I will never get that pet.

Well, it must be “never” because I have one now. Along with Hatespark the Tiny and all the others. I’ve checked all the vendors I have one of each of every pet from the Anniversary.

Guess there’s really nothing more to do but collect more currency for next year.

And I even managed to get one of each of all the Halloween pets.

There are a couple of the new Anniversary pets that are bought with Timewalking badges, whose vendors will not appear until it is that Timewalking week.

Oh, great. Another 4400 Badges to collect.

It never ends. You haven’t realized that yet? :stuck_out_tongue:

There is one more pet you could get, Creepy Crate.

https://www.wowhead.com/item=71076/creepy-crate.

At one time it was only available during the Hallow’s End event, but you can find it for sale anytime on a lot of the stable masters now. If you would rather get it for free, there’s a quest chain that starts from the same NPC out front of Stormwind that gives the two stink bomb dailies.
