I don't think you know what you are getting yourself into

I think a majority of these players who are all excited about WoW and claim “omg 10 million + subs” have no friggen clue what they are talking about.

I think most of them pretend to have played vanilla for whatever reason, but don’t really know what they are getting themselves into.

Vanilla is no cake walk, it isn’t like today where you breeze through leveling.

Took me 3 months to get to 60 the first time around.

Ever been chased halfway across the board by a friggen murloc.

Then killed by 20 of them, cause they all agro you as you run.

Maybe you need raptor hearts, well Blizzard says you will get no raptor hearts.

Buy LOTS of water.

Be prepared to spend ALL your gold (how little you get of it) on spells.

But it’s not all bad and tedious.

On my Warlock alone I am VERY much looking forward to questing for my Demons again. The Doomguard and Infernal quest chains were especially epic.

And don’t even get me started on seduce/nuke in PvP! The best way to get an angry whisper in game is the seduce/nuke tactic.

Take off your rose tinted glass people, and understand what Classic really was. A LOT of grinding, proceeded by more grind, interjected with adrenaline, followed by more grinding.

And this was considered a casual game back in the day.

You do know the number of people in Vanilla was higher than what the number is on retail right now, yes?

Gimme those keys.

No key ring at the start of Vanilla.

What is the point of this thread?

It’s truly amazing watching the trolls come out of the woodwork today to tear into Vanilla. What is it you’re so afraid of? That a 15 year old game is going to crush BfA? Get over it.

Well considering Blizzard isn’t showing sub numbers anymore, I wonder how you came across this information.

Lemme guess, you know a guy who knows a guy who had drinks with a Blizzard employees room mates, cousin?!

Congratulations! You’re the 1000000th person to bring this point up on the forums!

You get no prize other than my sarcastic comment =P

Deal with it.

Yeah, that’s exactly what everyone is expecting from Classic: being able to breeze through it and get lots of epics handed over. We want Classic because we like BfA.

Seriously, just think about your logic for a moment.

Not a troll, I WILL be playing when Classic drops. I just think people need a dose of reality.

You don’t like it, well who gives a damn, this is my thread so suck it up.

the run backs when dead. PITA. not looking forward to that. and the farming, my god, the time. so, some stuff is not good.

If it’s anything like 2005 I’ll probably play for a few weeks, get bored and go play EQ 2.

God forbid there was a hill in your way and you had to walk around it. Just added 5 minutes to your corpse walk.

I’ve been playing Classic EverQuest for the last month or so while waiting for Classic WoW. WoW is gonna feel like a vacation compared to that game by the time it comes out.

Does anyone remember diminished rep gains because you were too high level for the zone.

Ah rep grinds. You think people complain now, just you wait…

Oh, and God forbid you start as Forsaknbe, NEUTRAL with EVERYONE, except Tauren.

Don’t they still start neutral? And they were neutral with Tauren too I believe. I know it’s a lot faster to gain rep now, but it wasn’t that big of a deal.

Agreed. EQ was a grind fest. which was why WoW did so well, it was built with the casual in mind. And NOT casual today, casual 2005.

Horde/Alliance reps didn’t really mean anything in Vanilla beyond getting exalted if you really wanted to ride another race mount. And the neutral thing was solved after a few quests in Kalimdor anyhow.

No, you started as just above friendly with Tauren. Since in the lore, it was Cairne who talked Thrall into letting you into the Horde in the first place.

Oh, how I do miss Cairne, his son is such a little b###h.

I’d have a bit of a point of contention here, for newer players…

The only class in the entire game that needs to drink more than occasionally while leveling is Mage.

Take advantage of the 5 second rule for mana regen and most classes can end each fight at or near full mana (ie “out of combat regen” isn’t actually tied to being in or out of combat, but rather kicks in 5 seconds after you last casted a spell… you can melee or wand without impacting this timer)

Learning how to perform damage rotations for efficiency/sustainability is a fairly critical skill to develop for vanilla content, as unlike retail, resources like mana can be rather limited when “going all out” for output.

It was if you wanted to PvP.

And no, diminishing returns brought your rep per quest WAY down in Classic as compared to now.
