I don't think any other DPS spec in the game is so Feast or Famine like FDK

When FDK uses CDs it competes with top tier specs in AOE and some in Single target. All these other specs don’t have to blow a 45s CD just to not be doing healer damage baseline.

Instead of FDKs AOE abilities like Glacial Advance, Frost Scythe, Remorseless Winter, and Chill Streak being buffed to a point where they can stand on there own without CDS FDK is pigeon holed into relying on CDs that enable our single target abilities like Obliterate and Frost Strike to cleave for us.

This makes it so you cannot buff our single target damage to a competitive point without buffing our cleave damage.

Shattered Frost and Artic Assault were the final nails in the coffin that obliterated our AOE abilities from needing to be taken at all.

Now Glacial advance has been nerfed to a point that Frost strike is doing 3.5 times the damage making you need 4 targets for it to be worth pressing over FS. All because KM is firing off a free one. Now Artic Assault if being nerfed to 80% but no sign of a buff to Glacial Advances after its been nerfed 3 times in a row from damage caused by not even casting it.

biggest problem I have is probably holding cds when I shouldn’t be. Sometimes I inaccurately judge how long its going to take to take down a small pack and don’t use a CD, but then when the fight is over it took as long as the CD. But I wonder if that would have been shorter if I use the CD? Ultimately, the number of times you’ve used the CD over the course of the dungeon is probably more meaningful, but then again on tyrannical having all your power for the boss fight seems mega important too.

Yes. managing runes and CDs is a big part of DKs. Unlike in paladin where we can just click Wake of Ashes and Hammer of Light combo immediately and anytime it lights up. With DK we need to make sure we have enough runes up to fully take advantage of our burst and CD period.

Exactly. The peaks with CDs are competitive and top tier in AOE but the valleys are absolutely nuts.

For example a tanks pulls 3 mobs before a huge pull because he just doesn’t want to risk it. you stuck with the decision to do damage that looks like your 100 ilvls lover than everyone else or burn CDs that you wont have on the next pack.

Or you used your CDs on the last pack but they are coming up half way through the next but you cant press cuz they wont be used 100% and you’ll be stuck doing no damage for the entirety of the next pull causing you to do a whole middle pack with no dam at all.

Mean other specs have a chain lightening/caustic splatter type spell/mechanic that carries them even without CDs.

I think icy death torrent was suppose to be the caustic splatter type talent but its so rng and has to be nerfed so hard due to how strong it is during pillar. Maybe Pillar should only be 30% more Frost Strike/Glacial Advance and Obliterate damage that way they dont have to nerf the rest of the kit due to how much it does during pillar.

i found horsemen was a little better than deathbringer in this respect because mograine tends to give me longer d&d windows at least. so I can usually at least match the tank during cd downtime. unless its a prot warrior on rhoids though :frowning:

Once you hit a certain lvl of key it almost works it self out. Around a +7 my 45s CDs are just about up for each pack anyway. But when i go back to help a friend run a +2 on a alt or something its like my spec feels so much worse on the lower key cuz most packs just arent worth the CDs then leave me dry for the next.

I meant as DK when our CDs are up I still look up my runes and want to have about 5-6 runes up before I start my CD rotation. In paladin since wake of ashes give us 3 holy power we can just press it immediately everytime weakaura tells me it is available to use. As DK we need to think ahead more and there is more delay to our usage of skills because of rune managements.

Yeah, sometime when Pillar and Reaper Mark are about to come off CD I basically just have to set there in AA for like 5s cuz if i press any buttons I’m not even going to be able to use my CDs

Yep. If lucky and if we have lots of runepower then I just start hitting with frost strike to proc some more runes faster if lucky. So DK is a bit more complicated than paladins which right now is soooo smooth and easy to play.

I really wish they would make our Death and Decay off global cooldown. While paladins and other classes instantly press their AOE skills we need to press one more button, spend one more rune and spend one global cooldown just to start our AOE lol. It is so archaic.

Yep, D&D cost resources to do zero damage and waste a sec of own cleave mechanic by being on the GCD. They would have to give it its own GCD like stealth so you don’t accidently spam it twice.

Yea. They should make D&D do decent damage because it costs a GCD and a resource. My Paladin can do Final Reckoning (Big damage, no resource cost and off GCD)), Wake of Ashes+Hammer of Light, Divine toll then Divine Storm while my DK is just going to start his first obliterate strike (with KM) with a D&D down on the ground lol.
