I dont MIND the removal of some addon's

in favor of built in addons in the game it self. thats not a big deal TO ME. the more i have thought about it.

what i am concerned with his blizzard having a track record of taking things already created by players that function GREAT and then blizzard making it them selves. and it not work half as goood and missing 90% of the features. thats what im worried about

The only addons they are generally targeting (other than the misc problematic one) are combat addons. To get WoW to the point where you don’t have to download addons to play the game well.

They aren’t going after your UI addons, TomTom, etc.

Ya and details and other dmg addons will shift to offering a better UI than Blizzard’s version because Blizzards version is still going to provide all (or most if they restrict the API to not show X information) of that information.

So for example, you’re not a fan of the Blizzard Damage Meter UI you simply download Details which is now solely a UI addon and have your good old Details UI.

If I’m not using it, then feel free to remove it.

Lotta worried people out there… not doing content that requires addons

Not sure how this will affect me e personally.

I don’t really use combat add-ons outside DBM and Name Plate mods.

I do use a bunch of UI stuff, though… Some seem to spill over… Not sure how their classified.

i frequently do mythics. not on this character but i do use them.

in-game threatmeter works great.

in-game raidframes work great.

They aren’t going to be touching the UI stuff.

There will still be UI addons aplenty.

I get that much, I’m more talking about things like Plater/Tidy Plates, and Action Bar add-ons, which are technically UI, though they have the ability to show timers and such making them useful in combat.

Not the end of the world, I will adapt. Very curious though.

They just change what the API shares. If they API no longer allows timers they will still function as they do now except the timers.

All addons do is take information which the API allows and make it visible, changes the UI etc.

Oh don’t worry, it will 100% be a much much much worst version of it when blizzard try to implement their own version of build in add on. Just look at the cool down manager.

For PvP I definitely support the removal of addons that track enemy cooldowns. Because without addons there are already a lot of visual indicators on what an enemy is doing. Every spells has a unique effect and sound associated with it. Without enemy cooldown tracking, people then need to rely on these visual cues and insinct. Which I think its a much more natural and less handholdy way of doing it. I enjoy pvp this way, but this puts me at a disadvantage vs those who use addons. Which shouldn’t be the case.

For PVE, I never really liked that some addons were required for doing high end play. I prefer keeping addons to a minimum to avoid screen clutter and quite frankly having so many icons on the screen is kind of immersion breaking.
