Been playing wow for ages and I just don’t understand why the whole insanity/void form thing was made in the first place?
Spriest was fun AF back in MOP and older xpacks now it just doesn’t feel as good at all, I cant be the only one who thinks this right?
Are people for or against void form?
( I’m leveling my 9 year old priest from back in the day, so just joining the priest community ).
Everyone hates Voidform except the devs.
I actually like Voidform, though it has problems and is impossible to balance. You’re far from alone, Sensitwink, a large amount of people hate Voidform. 99% of the Spriest community doesn’t like it. The 1% don’t really main Spriest and they just play something else.
No I like Voidform
I liked void form in legion when we had mass hysteria.
Now it barely feels like it does anything.
I like Void form but I hate that if you get targeted by any mechanic and have to run out for a second you lose a major dps window. But Voidform is only one of the many reason Shadow is terrible right now.
How it has been ignored so long boggles my mind.
What is it that almost everyone dislikes about void form? For me, the mechanics are mediocre but I don’t mind the aesthetics.
The aesthetics are cool, and personally I’m a fan of the void theme.
The main problem is that right now, voidform feels almost pointless by itself. It’s not possible to stay in voidform long enough for the haste to really make a difference, and most of the reason to go in void form is just for the initial erupt aoe burst.
Second, the cd for void bolt and mind blast often overlap which feels bad unless you play Sw: void.
Third, anytime there’s a fight where you have to move out of mechanics, or you need to press a button other than voidbolt/mindflay/mindblast you lose out on maintaining your voidform because globally.
Finally, having this ramp up time to get to our peak dps is kinda silly in the current m+ environment we have right now. For example if there’s an aoe pull of weaker mobs and you don’t run dark ascendence you just don’t get to cast and your stuck mind searing for garbo dps

Exactly this. I loved spriest in mop and hate the insanity/voidform mechanic.
It’s mostly the mechanics, and how it feels like it should be a big event but after the eruption it’s just kind of part of the rotation. I wish voidform was a little more oomph, an offensive cooldown that we could press so we don’t feel left out when the raid lusts and we just do our regular rotation except faster
I made a priest with the intention of being mostly holy, aside from leveling, which I’ve played as shadow. I came here basically because I hate shying away from world pvp and I want the bonus rep and rewards. That being said, I really don’t enjoy s priest at all. It has really crappy defensive capabilities, bad mobility, and heals worse than my ret pal. Mana drops much quicker, and individual heal with shadow mend basically sucks, and actually has a negative attribute to it? Why? We also don’t have a big enough bomb to really make vampiric embrace really effective. That and the cooldown for it is ridiculous. So…I recently discovered the whole not using void form thing…that’s just bad and it means the class is broken. Not a fun class/spec, Blizzard.
I have mained shadow priest ever since late vanilla and even through all the crap shadow has gone through in the past I’ve always loved the playstyle, look and feel. My absolute favourite shadow was the old style (perhaps bc/wotlk/mop. Yes even bc, being a mana battery was awesome and our dps was great in the early game such as kara).
But now I can barely stand to see my character in shadow spec. The look i enjoyed is gone, playstyle is clunky and horribly designed, and it just FEELS so bad to play. I still love my priest as a whole as its been my main forever, and disc is great, but I miss my old shadow priest. Not this void crap they have going on now. I definitely prefer the old shadow, although even legion was still very fun to play. I’m absolutely at a loss as to why Blizzard has gutted the spec like they have. The least they could do is just revert the playstyle back to legion shadow, just with a few tweaks. I’d at least be able to stand looking at my character and enjoy a rotation that made sense.
I hate it, and in pvp it’s like a big shinny light that comes on that all the bugs flock to… As soon as I pop that thing I know that ever SINGLE person in the bg is headed right at me…
Its a horrible design, and tbh the class is just pretty blah anyways… I was a Spriest main and decided to go back to my FuryWarrior for a bit and let me tell you, I have a hard time logging into the priest now… The damage is pretty much laughable, only thing is you live long if you take EOI…But we all know that is about to get nerfed.
I should have just rolled a aff lock because after 8.1 they both will have the same up time…
It really feels like they put a dev on SP that has never played shadow before, its hard to even put in words and I agree with you completely. I notice while leveling with my priest the whole void mechanic doesn’t seem to fit to well. By the time the mob is 1/4th HP I’m ready for void… ( spend all this time building it just to not really use it ).
Also I don’t understand why they wanted to make an additional form on top of shadowform. Shadow has always been “the form”. I just wish they would consolidate into shadow and give us some cool shadow attacks to compensate for the loss of void. ( just ranting here )…

I much preferred the way Spriest was played back in Pandaria. It was fun, and fairly intuitive to play.
I don’t care for void form at all. The whole style right now seems weird and more like a lock hybrid than a form of priest.
And I hate the visuals. HATE them.

Voidform would’ve been a fun mechanic if it acted like old Demo meta in mop, but they had to ruin that and just make voidform play exactly the same as outside of voidform but faster.

Old school priest here…I don’t “hate” voidform…but I liked more pre-void form. Although I also liked disc priest pre-atone healing.
