we enjoy the company of our guildmates while playing video games.
It is so hard to find a good guild , i feel like every good guilds in WOW are playing together since 10 years + , it is hard to get into these guilds
my retail guild i have been with for a long time but in classic, TBC, SOM I found good guilds with little hopping.
it’s not that bad - they’re out there.
I’m 40 and I have always had fun playing video games because I don’t like life and I refuse to participate in it, so it’s just video games until I’m dead.
63 and my 42 year wedding anniversary is today.
I play because it is an escape from all the crazy in real life.
Fast approaching my 30s and haven’t felt diminished enjoyment of them. The parts of the game I enjoy sure have changed, but I cannot overstress how important finding your community is to enjoying MMOs.
Once the haze of being new dissipates you’re left with what is around you. Best make sure you like the company
I feel like , i played too much video games, i’m so burned out of video games but i’m addicted , so idk what to do
League of Legends destroyed my soul of video gamer
Identify what it is you like. In my experience, people get over competitive and then wonder why when they win that competition they don’t feel fulfilled.
Think of it as playing basket ball with your 2 year old. Your 2 year old can’t win. You aren’t playing the game to dunk on your 2 year old.
I’m not sure I do every time. Sometimes you just don’t feel it. Sometimes you just have to take a break. You have the rest of your life to play, do it when you feel for it again.
well, if you’re both addicted and burned out… theres always the road trip. drive around for about a week and see where you are when you return.
I just play different ones, or just take a break here and there just to refresh myself and take a breather. What I’m doing right now given WoW doesn’t have much to offer content wise.
I went through something like that. You need a genre-shift.
Try JRPGs or ARPGs or even strategy/building games.
I got this $5 game on Steam called Kind Words and it’s just digital therapy with lo-fi beats.
I would recommend Disco Elysium if you haven’t tried it yet. It’s unlike anything you’ve ever played before.
Variety and novelty could definitely rekindle your passion for gaming.
Taking breaks during a session to exercise could help improve your mood.
I am almost 40, been playing video games since age 4. (Atari baby!) I find MMOs get boring if you play them solo for to long. Playing a Solo style game is better solo, it was designed for solo game play, seems more engaging. If I wanna play with people I pick up a MMO or co op game. It is a LOT more fun when it is with people who are your friends or family. My 2 brothers are a hoot to play with, but are on rarely.
I think the real trick is to not play the same game to long. Take breaks. Do other hobbies. Burn out happens faster and faster as you age it feels like. You get into the “Been there, done that” mentality.
yeah i should try games like this, i have always played competitive games like League of Legends , CSGo , WOW , TF2 .
but i kinda get bored realy fast with solo games, i think i really need a huge break
They’re great for retirees.
I plan to hang gaming for ten years or twenty, then make them in my 60s as a “retired” age-level worker.
By then there should be a multitude of programming shortcuts to designing a game before pitching it to either a wealthy independent gaming company or to a big corporation.
Most likely to indie-programmers.
That’s “The Plan.”
get out while you can!
most of us are only here tending to an old addiction that never really went away.
