I hate boosts in all forms. But I’ve come to agree with the above. It is a compromise, and that’s the best we’re going to get.
Blizzard would probably love to go all the way. Unlimited max level paid boosts. WoW token. Cash shop where you can buy other crap. Purists be damned. But they didn’t. They could have screwed us over royally, but they didn’t.
So we need to just accept it and move on, and be thankful that they didn’t completely retail the F out of TBC to maximize revenue, forcing people like me to quit.
I would prefer you to elaborate, because if the survey is being used as an argument that they asked the playerbase, but not everyone in the playerbase got the survey, that makes it a weak argument. Google will not be any help if I am not even sure what I am supposed to be looking for because you leave it at a vague “That’s not how surveys work.”
See these are the people I’ll be more than happy to stand arm in arm with if Blizz ever does try to go overboard with this sort of thing. We may not agree on a fundamental level but we’re still able to see eye to eye across the fence
A survey is a basis for analyzing an average, so say the sample size for the survey was 50,000 people.
They can then gather data based on the average of responses for the survey, for instance 68% of the 50,000 people chose Option 2, 18% chose option 1 and 14% chose option 3.
They can then assume thats how the averages would play out on a larger scale since thats how it played out on their current model.
So in regard to the actual survey, say a large portion chose to carry out our current servers into TBC, which was prolly the highest selected option as thats what we got.
Now say the 2nd pick was the premade level 58s. Which is why ithink maybe the boost was implemented.
Thats just my guess tho, but Blizzard is a buisness trying to make money and they have always given out a free boost with the purchase of the newest xpac to get new people to play it and since no xpac is going to be purchased with TBC they are offering the 1 paid boost.
So it didnt matter if you didnt get the survey as you would of likely had a 68% chance to pick the top pick.
Nope. Believe it or not, Blizz prefer we level without boosts. Burns up that sub time, don’tcha know. Boosts are in place to prevent paid account boosting involving RMT which causes them a lot more headaches.
If the survey isn’t for everyone then it can potentially lead to confirmation bias, selecting specific accounts that line up with their idea to sell boosts, etc. We know blizzard monitors who purchases gold as of recent suspensions. Who knows what other metrics they track and if they use said metrics for picking survey participants. Players that are more open to purchases on blizz microtransaction store (mount/pet buyers) anything like this could be specifically targeted to show skewed results.
I haven’t done any of the above and never received a single survey.
