EDIT: THIS POST IS ALMOST A YEAR OLD. STOP REPLYING TO IT. YES, I KNOW WHAT WARBANDS ARE. I HAVE FOR MONTHS.
It says “With Warbands, players can enjoy account-wide progression with all characters in their Battle.net® account” but what exactly do Warbands do? I hope I’m wrong, but it appears that the “all characters in their Battle.net® account” part just means all our alts can join a Warband, but Warbands look like they have a character limit.
Seems like it’s more like ‘Share account-wide progression between any four of your alts’. Otherwise, what would be the point of Warbands? Like, if we could share progress with all our alts at once why would Warbands even need to exist? Feels like they’re writing this as vague as possible and letting us assume it’s better than it is. I’d really like to be wrong though.
Uh, I’m not sure. My initial interpretation was just that regardless of how much we progress in the new system it just gives equal access across chars, and of course having alts doesn’t give you an advantage.
Wonder if there’s a limit on warband size or if it’s basically just…everything.
I do love the cute little char select thing of having your chars together, though. I’ve been hoping for something like that since wod (we couldn’t have alts as followers in our mains garrison, etc).
In the second presentation the dude said there is no system called “warbands” shown in game, and instead it is a series of systems that make small changes here and there, allowing for account-wide progression.
So my guess is it is something you don’t have to interact with and will be baked in into the UI.
It sounds very similar the the system Star Wars the Old Republic has where your charcters have a sort of lineage/family tree that binds them together in a sense where your banks and currency are shared and centralized as well as reputations and transmog.
The UI could just be a revamped character selection screen where you can pick which characters to show for the fun of it. The actual system, at least as it was described onstage, is probably just a bunch of backend stuff linking all your reps and renown and what not together.
Well for one thing, an aspect I very much like is:
“a warband bank”
If this is what it appears to be, it means that my alts can all gain access to a single bank. Now, what the stats are for this bank (eg size, quantity of items it can contain, etc) thats something we will have to find out later. But if it avoids the need to constantly change characters to access items, thats a big win for everyone with multiple characters.
And it also means shared renown/rep, thats another win.
First they take the dingle bop and they smooth it out with a bunch of schleem. The schleem is then…repurposed for later batches.
They take the dingle bop and they push it through the grumbo, where the fleeb is rubbed against it. It’s important that the fleeb is rubbed, becasue the fleeb has all the fleeb juice.
Then, a schlami shows up, and he rubs it…and spits on it.
They cut the fleeb. There’s several hizzards in the way.
The blamfs rub against the chumbles, and the…plubis, and grumbo are shaved away.
