I don't get it

We already have Classic WoW—pure, unadulterated Classic WoW, complete with a lack of quality of life (QoL) “enhancements.”
So, why are we playing SoD within a Classic environment but without the QoL that only makes WoW better?
For example, It’s nearly 2024; why do I have to wait an hour to receive something I mailed to myself? It’s unnecessary, adds nothing of worth to the game, doesn’t enhance the SoD experience, and only serves to reduce the “fun factor.”
The same can be said about hour-long Hearthstones, Seal of Righteousness recast (after Judgment), extremely short Paladin/Shaman (only SoD classes I’ve played) self-buffs, limited mailboxes, fewer flightpaths, Dungeon Finder, etc.
Leaving out WotLK-era QoL enhancements doesn’t make SoD more fun, and neither does adding them offer an unfair advantage in any way. I only feel like I’m playing Classic WoW again.
Which leads me to this - If I wanted to play SoD like it’s 2004, I’d stick to my Classic character or return to Hardcore.

Here is my take on it.

The game is a RPG at it’s core. To me, a RPG need some sense of “realism” or “immersion”. Mail taking an hour to deliver is apart of that immersion. Flight paths should be limited to make the world feel bigger. Dungeon Finder makes the game feel lifeless and more single-player. The QoL upgrades you’re talking about are in retail currently and is a giant factor as to why I dislike that version of the game.

Now, I can agree that some QoL updates that are needed. Mainly Guild Banks and Duel Spec.

So you like your QoL updates, but not mine.
I’m referring to the QoL adjustments in WotLK; playing Retail is unnecessary.
Also, “realism” would be an account bank, so all my characters have access to it, like family members - I wouldn’t mail myself a package, though I have had my Amazon deliveries sent to my mom’s house when visiting. /shrug
But seriously, “realism” would be an hour to receive something sent from another player, not from myself, before Venmo. But I can send funds electronically, so realism today is instant.
And it’s a game. That’s the “G” in RPG - we don’t wait two days for a boat to take us to another continent.
Finally, there’s a reason QoL advances were introduced.

I already have.

Because old timers are trying to enforce Classic rules into SoD. They kick and scream when anything good from retail is mentioned for SoD.

SoD should have QoL changes like Barber Shop and Transmog. There’s no reason not to have it.

This isn’t classic.

Way to demonstrate the slippery slope.

I returned to peak WoW (WotLK).

I was level 8 on my first toon in Azuremyst when I gave up expecting realism from the game. Bleeding interrupted my bandaging, when in real life, we bandage to interrupt the bleeding.

Then play Classic.

This is SoD. We shouldn’t be limited by Classic restrictions or mindsets.

Nice comeback, you just think of that one? Still doesn’t make you correct.

It’s the truth.

When you learn about all the stuff in SoD that isn’t on Classic it will blow your mind.

Yeah, I’ve been playing it. It’s WoW Classic with some gimmicks added. Gonna post some more snarky drivel?

I don’t believe you.

As SoD isn’t 1 to 1 Classic.

You would know the point of SoD if you played it.

I don’t care what you believe. My description given is apt. I’ll continue having fun clearing BFD, you can keep seething.

Please no dungeon finder and please no heirlooms. They greatly harm the leveling and socializing experience, IMO. Things like barbers and more mailboxes are okay with me but lets all be conscious of the slippery slope as mentioned. Don’t ask for a bunch of stuff and then complain to blizz if they give it to you and it ends up negatively affecting your fun.

It’s alright.

You don’t understand what SoD is.

Give it a try. The moment you get your first Rune it will blow your mind.

i believe it is not so simple, i suspect that the changes you’re asking for cannot be applied to SoD without also applying to era, and hardcore. all of the other changes we’ve seen are just changes to the database. nothing fundamentally changing hardcoded mechanics.

One, i rather play classic but classic isnt level locked every 20 levels nor is there FRESH HYPE or active pop. So this SOD bs is best thing we got at the moment.
