I despise Blade Flurry

Sinister Strike was made to have a different animation during Blade Flurry. When it procs an additionak strike, it shows a fluid animation, but during Blade Flurry, it instead glitches back and forth to strike twice which is frankly ugly to watch.

Problem being that Blade Flurry has become mandatory to use all the time, even in single target, even without speccing into it. There’s no decision making with this ability and it breaks the visual fluidity of the class.

Blade Flurry started out as toggle ability. You could have it up all the time but it reduced your energy generation. This was excellent game design in my opinion, pushing players to make a choice in how they approach a fight. It also used to purely be a buff, no damage on activation.

Nowadays, it deals damage on activation at such a low cost on Enegry that it’s a DPS loss to not use it in single target. At this point why not just remove the damage on Blade Furry and increase the damage of other abilities instead? I just don’t get it. Not every ability has to be usefull all the time, that’s not what makes a class interesting. And it may sound like a minor issue, but it’s a big part of why I don’t enjoy what used to be one of my favourite specs in the game.

There was an attempt to insert some decision-making back into Blade Flurry with the Delivered Doom hero talent, but Blizzard unfortunately removed that requirement, instead of removing the requirement to have Blade Flurry up at all times. Feels like a good idea swept under the rug in the name of laziness.

This is not true anymore. Before prepatch blade flurry was used on ST because it froze slice and dice duration due to the underhanded upperhand talent. Now that cut to the chase is a thing, its no longer used on ST. Its going to be a dps loss if you maintain bladeflurry on ST

Blade Flurry should be passive for Outlaw Rogue. There are other ways to make AoE more interesting outside of leaning so heavily on Blade Flurry as an active ability that is a pain to utilize.

Have 3 “maintenance buffs” (Slice and Dice, Roll the Bones, Blade Flurry) isn’t fun.

If that is the case I’m very interested. Isn’t the ability still worth using in single-target considering its decent damage at a very low energy cost? Is there any data on this or is it just speculation?

I completely agree, although letting a class just passively deal AOE damage might be a bit much. I really think its original iteration as a toggle ability with an energy tradeoff was perfect. Dunno why they turned it into a maintenance buff…

Bflurry activation damage doesnt do enough damage to justify over sinister strike, especially since you dont get combo point, dont proc opportunity, dont proc count the odds.

Blade flurry no longer has any mechanical benefits to use on ST, like it had in season 3 and 4

It’s been years of trying to justify it on-GCD.
I wonder how it would feel if they just took it off-GCD again.
No other changes. Would probably feel pretty good.

Heck, even pick one of the four required talents for it and add it to that.

Remember when Blade Flurry had infinite duration and it was basically a stand?

I remember.
