I Decided not to play this game anymore because of Soar

I’ve been struggling to play this game for years.
I like a lot of things about it… the large open world. the lore(mostly)
the sense of exploration…
the races have meaning, and are intresting.

But I have never connected with any character I have ever created.
I’ve always wanted to play druid but don’t like any race that can be one.
so i’ve struggled to find a class to play… monk is ok… but visually really kind of silly.

so when they released dracthyr i finally found a character i would be able to connect with.
I love the idea of transforming into a magical dragon and I like the cute blood elf model upgrade they gave the visage form…

however blizzard seems to have this issue where they want to force players to interact with something they designed…

In this case its their customized dragons for dragon riding…
THE ONLY reason they wont let Dracthyr soar move like dragon riding is because they want you to interact with their dragon mount system.

Let me put this very clearly. AS A DRAGON! I DONT WANT TO HAVE TO RIDE A DRAGON!

Now dont get me wrong I would likely still play with the feature… because I do think its cool. BUT I DONT WANT TO BE FORCED to do it. I just want to do it because its cool.

I truly dont understand why you gave us a winged dragon race just so we have to hop on a dragon.

I even think they should let druids and even demon hunters interact with the dragon riding system…

WHY because its simpy fun and cool!

I have wings on my character, or i can transform into a great owl!
LET ME FLY…

this is so simple. I just cant get behind a company who doesn’t get these simple things.
its incredibly dumb.

I know some of you are gonna be like… this is the line you draw…
no… its not. They make getting into this game sooo hard.

JUST LET THINGS BE FUN… its an incredibly simple thing to do…
so i have unsubed and downloaded Guild wars 2 instead…

ill use my remaining time to continue to complain about his nerf.

yeah and you will likely leave again… once you realize they are a controlling company who doesn’t understand that they need to design fun things for people to do on their own will and not try to force you to do something over and over again… just because its a system they created.

I can understand why the nerf is upsetting for many. I personally don’t care because one I won’t be playing a Dracthyr and two things like that just don’t bother me enough to cancel over it.

I’m a very casual and don’t play all the time so therefore I really don’t get bothered by much in the game, plus not having investment in high end gameplay probably helps to not get stressed or burnt out.

If that is how you feel well I wish you luck and hope you find a better MMO that appeals to you more.

This has to be one of the worst reasons I’ve seen someone “threaten” to quit for. Most likely a bluff anyway. See you in a month or two. Or for DF launch. I’m no blizzard fanboy, and I’ll call out the bad they do. But this is just silly.

I am just finding it hard to get worked up over a skill I never even got to use. It is one thing to have something taken but to get upset over an alpha skill just seems extra. But you keep doing you people.

Yes, the soar nerf is quite slow but its faster than the flying mounts. So I dont see it as a big deal.

I mean I get what you are saying but its also fair that that they want their new core feature to also feel worthwhile to people who play the new class too.

i get for a lot of you you play for the dungeon and the raids…
but thats not the type of mmo player i am…

I like playing a character in a fantasy world…
I like exploring a fantasy world.

I like to feel immersed.

so for me a person who wants to feel connected to the world via my character this is a huge problem for me…

so you can say i’m being dramatic… but this game just proves over and over that its not for me…

so i quit.
you can have my gold… i dont have any… anyway… i spendit all on silly tranmog pieces.

so yes this is a hill this game will die on for me… because they just dont want to appeal to me as a customer…

This. Like I’m one of the long time FF14 players who was praising it before it was a big thing. I often criticized Blizz about a bunch of their game play decisions (borrowed power being the biggest) , and yet this doesn’t bother me because as a DM, I recognize that any flight beyond flying mounts is WAY OP. Think of the havoc that would bring to pvp…

I’ve heard of a compromise to make it like the worgen’s running wild form but with a longer cast time. This would be the only solution I can think of that wouldn’t break the game.

i dont think the skill should be any different from dragonriding especially in the new zones.
I just want to fly around and explore as a dragon person…
because it would be fun and immersive…

I dont want to HAVE TO train and ride a dragon when i have wings… it literally doesn’t make any sense…

I dont even care if they nerf the speed in the old world…
I do care that i have to get on a dragon and do dragon riding when i HAVE WINGS!
its stupid…
