I couldn't level a new character if it wasn't for Legion

I’ve recently gotten a bit bored of doing max level activities in Dragonflight, and for the first time in many, many years (outside of classic, which I think in all iterations has a much more engaging leveling experience) I have decided to level characters either from scratch or from level 20, 30, etc.

Why? Legion. Because of the Legion expansion, leveling isn’t just leveling: if you level through Legion, you not only gain access to some very cool, epic lore and content which is themed around something cool (the burning legion), you also unlock artifacts, with many appearances to be unlocked, as well as class hall sets and storylines, toys, and a class hall mount.

There is progression here that is class-specific and feels meaningful, unlike doing something like MoP or Wrath content. Why would I want to do that? All I get out of it is levels. God knows the leveling experience itself isn’t that great, but actually having concrete goals and cool things to work toward to/unlock while doing Legion content makes it engaging and feel like I’m not wasting my time.

The next expansion needs to be more like Legion. We need this type of progression and class-specific type of content back that you can chase either during the expansion itself, or later on. And to be clear, I don’t think borrowed power should be involved. We don’t need “artifact weapons” or “artifact power” as things that power up our characters, it could just be cosmetic.

Yep I always choose Legion.

And class halls should have been a permanent feature. Imagine if classes had an introductory quest related to class halls!

I also choose Legion for my alts. It’s a fun expansion with a good theme, and plenty of things to do. :+1:

Honestly, Legion is pretty much my go-to for leveling. I like the dungeons, I like the questing, I like the layout of the land, I like the class hall stories (like, a LOT).

I miss Legion tbh.

If you care about story then repeating any expansion can bring you insight and context to things not attainable earlier. The more the game expands the more meaningful old stuff becomes. I agree tho Legion is another thing. I have to go back and re-do the artifact quests i did and ones i didnt do (which are alot).

The only thing bad about Legion was the artifact power grind.

Otherwise, excellent expac.

Legion and BFA are my favorite expansions to level in. BFA only because Zandalar >>>>> Kul Tiras.

I do like Legion. I send many of my alts there. I want to eventually finish getting all the class sets, but earning exalted reputation with the Nightfallen on each alt is not something I look forward to doing.

This thread has given me new perspective–id forgotten how engaging Legion was, and how sick artifact skins are.

I definitely have to work that into my alt rotation now.

Thanks OP

Legion was fun the first few times i played through it.
But ive levelled enough alts to be tired of it now.

Now most new characters i do go through cataclysm questing

Hoping that someday we will get a Legion classic. Had a lot of fun in that expansion. Ap didn’t bother me at all. Gradually powering up the weapons was what it was all about imo. All the dang currencies you need in DF for this, and that doesn’t feel much different than ap. The Suramar rep gate for zone lore achievement was the only dislike I had in Legion.

Runas The Shamed questline in Azuna easily one of the best questlines in this game. A lot of folks disliked Legion for various reasons, but it did have some of the best questlines of any expansion in my opinion. Wq’s, and Invasions were a lot better, than this rubbish they served the playerbase in DF. Sorry blizz, but some proto drakes going cray cray in dragonland will never top the burning legion.

Legion was the last time I had fun in WoW.

If they just put out a legion classic server I would be okay with that, that would be the only thing I would play along with era

I level in the vanilla zones. I enjoy the chill pace and vast world. Legion, while good, is an expansion that feels like it has chores at the end of it. A destination expansion, not a journey expansion.

I like leveling characters… but it always turns into a race to max level for me (I am just wired that way).
Capstone questlines should reward MASSIVE chunks of XP so you are incentivised to see zones through to completion.

Personally I always liked the Orc centric zones, frostfire ridge, durotar/barrens, stone talon etc.

I really wish they would put more emphasis on the leveling and make the world (more of the world) the focus… imagine leveling in MOP if the legendary cloak was unnerfed (in MOP) and BOA… imagine if heirlooms could be upgraded to legendary quality by leveling or if there was an ancestry talent tree you could allocate points into based on how many characters you level up.

I started a Rogue and a Priest the other day.

I plan on unlocking their class mounts and artifact appearances eventually. I want to get the mount for my Mage, and also the Mage Tower armor set for her, as well.

I also got Uuna’s Doll to drop last week, so I can finally get to unlocking Ba’al and the Waist of Time.

There’s lots more pets I gotta get too.

Oh no - It would appear I’m in trouble, lol.

You level so fast I don’t think any of them matter to me
