I don’t think we’re looking for external policing. I think most of us would just prefer it if fewer people behaved poorly.
And it does happen!
A few weeks ago I was doing Rated Blitz, and some dude, like two minutes into the match, freaked out at our team and quit because he thought the game was already lost. I told him it was still early, but he left anyway.
FOr some reason, like at least 3 or four of the opposing team drops out, and we SWEEP it. So I whisper him to tell him that good things do happen (even after he said a lot of mean things to me personally before he quit) and you know what happened?
He acknowledged his momentary lapse o emotional control, and we had a nice little chat after that.
SOmetimes, not always, but sometimes, de-escalation works. Wait, was that what Prince was singing about? Or was that De-elevation?
Anyway, you get the point < 3
… But… The police exists.
Yes, there is toxicity. But you’re claiming that “retail wow is toxic” which is patently false. First of all, it’s limited to pugs. Because you wouldn’t endure toxicity in a regular group so that’s removed. And second, not all pugs are toxic to the point you remember and that’s the key thing here.
You remember only the bad things. That one group that went horribly wrong. Completely disregarding the other 7 that day that went without a hitch.

Half full, half empty problem. Unsure if it’s the entire species, but there’s a tendency that the negative sticks out more.
It’s not patently false. Things could be shored up. But it’s a matter of personal control over the environment you’re in otherwise. One has it to the extent to who they’re willing to put up with.

Casual scene isn’t too bad here.
Keys can attract toxicity for some.

What in the world is happening in this thread? Are people trying to DEFEND the toxicity and degenerate attitudes in PUG groups that he is describing?

have you seen what the police does in general situations?
either nothing or unload 3 clips of ammo on a hazelnut
Yes. But they still exist. Even the fact you used the word “police”/“policing” indicates that.
Would you rather be in a society that had none?
I do randoms because I play at completely sporadic hours. My question is why are so many other people doing randoms?
Like seriously why? It’s torture. Half of them are raging mad. Even more hardly speak a lick of English. The “Chill” groups are actually “carry us” groups. All that 2.7k alt nonsense is just that. Nonsense.
Stop playing with randoms. Make some friends folks.
Or solo. I continue to wave my flag for Delves and hope it’s a model for future content to come.

put effort into community. find a guild that you mesh with.
This is really the ticket when we are on the topic of group centric gameplay and not solo gameplay. I don’t think resigning yourself to solo content is going to work for people trying to do group content.
We pick our poisons, here.
I otherwise agree on Mustachio’s comment. Randoms are… random, both in the good and bad sense, ranging to any level of extreme or mild. Best insurance against that is sticking to who you know and has the time.
Ngl, if I played Classic Hardcore and someone started hearthing out during a sketchy pull, especially the healer, I think I would lose my mind. In retail, or just era servers, I could just not play with you again, but hardcore you just literally wasted my time and investment.
Tangentially, Paladin’s Divine Shield speeds up hearthstone casts still.
Be the change that you wish to see in the world.
I keep tryin’, but “Paladin with a Gun That Shoots Holy Bullets/Spread Lasers” isn’t a thing I can manifest in any conceivable way yet.
I keep getting close-ish… Maybe the Arathi’ll introduce something.
If you find abusive behavior to be “decor”, I’m going to guess you’re part of the problem.
