I cleared layer 8 torgast and killed Goxul the Devourer, AMA

It was harder than raid bosses I’ve cleared, but I did it. 204 iLvL. AMA

But was it fun?

Carry me senpai?

201 ilvl, ill try it when I get there.

Have you ever had a dream that you, um, you had, your, you- you could, you’ll do, you- you wants, you, you could do so, you- you’ll do, you could- you, you want, you want them to do you so much you could do anything?

i cleared layer 7 as an arms warrior in full level 184 pvp gear + a 210 meme legendary(+2 charges to heroic leap). i dont run mythics at all. havent even ran a heroic yet this expansion.

only had 1 death, ironically on the first floor when i accidentally pulled 2 elites before i got any good anima powers. the only time it got dicey was if i accidentally pulled 2 of the elites at once, and then i just had to pop a lot of cooldowns.

i found picking DEFENSIVE anima powers to be key. i picked the ones that buffed my ignore pain shield, gave me more hp(raising my ignore pain shield more), and ones that made my ignore pain proc die by the sword(100%) parry + power that made die by the sword last longer per soul i have. i also got powers that gave me +15 anima per victory rush i cast and abused that, being able to buy almost every useful power on floors 3 and 6. by the time i got to the last boss my health wasnt going below 90%. he was actually easier than the first floor boss when i didnt have any good powers.

after reading all the posts here saying how impossible torghast is now i have to shrug. i plan to try layer 8 of the 2nd open wing later today after i do some dailies and upgrade my legendary to 225. i dunno if i will be as cool as Mcpeyt and clear layer 8, but I am going to give it a try. i find the challenge fun and not too crazy.

i’ve also cleared layers 6 on my MM hunter, who is also in full 184 pvp gear and i always had an easier time in torghast on him so expect to clear layers 7 on my hunter as well but am wondering if i will have to go BM to keep my pet up.

i see a lot of the people complaining about torghast mentioning they are in a group. i’ve seen people say it scales too much in groups and would like to suggest people try soloing it. i think the key is picking good anima powers/getting lucky anima powers and that may require multiple runs but so far i have cleared every torghast i have attempted on my first runs. no mythic gear. no raid gear. just 184 pvp gear.

i also go in with a stack of the 10k hp potions and grab a healthstone before hand and highly suggest that.

my only real gripe with torghast is the anti afk measures that kick in if you are out of combat. i would like to pee/stretch my legs and take a break for a minute or two here and there. i really think at the end of each floor, after you kill the boss, you should get one of the IMMUNITY bubbles the vendors are in to hang out in if u need to afk for a bit. maybe one of those bubbles somewhere on each floor.

thats all just my 2 cents. hope it helps some others.
