So, after canceling my sub, I went ahead and re-subbed so I could hop on some low level pvp. I have also just been traveling on the lowbie getting a look at the world simply because we’ll be traveling back when classic hits.
Have any of you caved in as well?
No, I just -ahem- watch videos about 2004 servers and think about practicing my leveling route…if you will.

I’m currently downloading wow, but I won’t be re-subbing. Does that count?

You see, I did the same thing. I just needed my pvp fix because I was watching too many twitch classic “videos.”

i’m currently subbed and play off and on, just goofing around on outlands quests currently.
I did redownload, and I spent a few min with a lowbie on a trial. Have not actually resubbed.
I have it installed but if I ever feel the need to jump back into that world I just create a trial character and goof around until level 20. That’s usually all it takes for me to realize I should just wait for Classic.

Na, currently replaying the original Resident Evil 1-3 atm.
…god that character dialogue was terrible

I’ve been just running low level alts through classic dungeons, fondly reminiscing of the old days when you would have to CC, and run to the instance, and the like. I miss old Deadmines, Maraudon, WC (god that maze of a place was crazy)…Doing class quests like Verigan’s Fist in SFK, epic mount quest in Dire Maul West…
Hurry up with classic damnit!!

I have resubed only because I’d feel bad… watching vanilla videos… without paying the sub.
Yep. I bought a 3-month sub (no BfA) to trial-run my chosen classes to 60. Got my first paladin to 34. I’m playing him as closely as possible to what I remember in vanilla with respect to spells, flight paths etc. For example, I’m Holy spec but I’m not using Holy Shock until 60, not using Crusader Strike at all, not using my mount till 40, etc. I’m also wearing all white armor and no rings or trinkets, because the stats on dungeon blues and even quest greens rival T1/T2.
When I’m in dungeons I make full use of all my abilities and my best equipment, of course, because this impacts others. But out in the world it definitely feels more like vanilla: stuff takes much longer to kill and hits me harder, so that I have to heal up between pulls, especially when I accidentally pull 2 or more monsters.
It’s actually pretty fun.

I have not caved in. I am passing the time playing Stardew Valley, where I can fish and cook and whenever Penny walks behind me as I fish in the river I imagine she is a rogue about to gank me and I turn quickly and swing my sword at her.
sigh…

I downloaded the client and did a dungeon on my level 19 twink (can’t do BGs…figures.)
The level squish for these dungeons makes sense due to queue times, but it also made the experience seem extremely hollow.
- Grouped with random people
- Steamrolling the dungeon with 0% chance of wiping
- All 5 of us were playing different games due to our varying levels
I’m not even being spiteful when I say it was a sad experience; leveling in retail has only gotten worse and worse.

I am very tempted to sub again just to mess around with leveling because the wow nostalgia is so real right now.
But I am fighting it, I refuse to give my money to BFA!

It gets better in the 30s, in my experience so far. Overly ambitious tanks seem to almost guarantee at least one wipe per Scarlet dungeon…
Did a couple trial characters up to 20 recently, that’s more than enough of current wow for me. I was even doing belf and draenei characters so I could have the “hardest” starting zones.
No. And I will never play retail again, unless something drastically changes with blizzards overall design philosophy.

I resubbed a while back when when I saw tanks facerolling entire dungeons with heirloom gear and getting mad at me because i cant heal through them tanking half the dungeon I just backed out.
I’ll have none of that.

No, the game is in a terrible state at the moment. I am happy to see they appear to have some competent people planning classic but as far as retail is concerned. That ship has sailed unfortunately.
