I can't wait for the class/race restrictions to be removed in the future

Draenei Warlocks, here I come.

Ok, we do know that the class/race restrictions are being removed in the future, though uncertain to when for every other class at the moment. But when they eventually go get around to the rest of the classes, which one would you be chosing.

Better go reserve the name “Archimonde” for your Draenei Warlock, if you can.

We know they plan to add more. We don’t know to what extent. And if it’s not done right, it’s probably the end of my WoW time.

Nah, I don’t want to name it after a dreadlord. I’ll name it Jaina Proudmoore.

While that sounds good on paper it’ll destroy class fantasy.

If they use it as an opportunity to expand class lore and give class skins to explain all these disparate cultures suddenly using unconventional classes, I can’t wait either!

If they just add them with zero explanation and suddenly Draenei can be warlocks, that’s hot garbage.

They did mention that they were going to work on the lore for other classes such as Warlocks for example.

Yes

BE and Gnome Druid :face_holding_back_tears:

They say lots of things. We’ll see.

In a way, I do agree. Can’t just add a class without expanding further and applying such things, such as the lore. Because then it will kill the game.

this is blizzard. they’ve never taken the time to actually world build. don’t hold your breath unless the new narrative director decides to actually put more emphasis on the world than master plan 59395089

It’s so easy to fix too, just do class skins like countless fans have been working up for years.

Night Elf paladins? Make their spells silver and wings is a big crescent moon behind them.

Pandaren druids? Forms and abilities are themed to the Celestials.

Others can be done with simple customization options. Red Fel Orc skins would make DHs a breeze, and a simple bit about Velen welcoming back the repentant Man’ari after the Legion’s defeat would explain warlocks and DH for Draenei too.

None of it has to be complicated, it just has to be actually done.

Excited for…
Shamans of all races. Especially Undead, Mechagnome, Nightborne, Night Elf.

Druids - Nightborne mostly and undead. Goblin/Kelfin would be cool, Kelfin has all sorts of assets they can use from Nazjatar if we ever get that race. Goblins I would like protoform animal forms, but goblin culture based.

Warlocks - Dranei, Highmountain/Thunderbluff Tauren. The minotaur warlock look would be awesome with the horns. Dranei too could finally rp an eredar and go for eredar based mogs like I do on my dranei dk.

This is one of my favorite fan arts of a Grimtotem Tauren former shaman becoming a warlock.

Dranei/Lightforged rogues. Highmountain /thunderbluff tauren. I wanted a tauren rogue for a long time, but I instead made a hunter. I can finally get rid of the hunter or change it to another race and roll a tauren rogue. Also dranei rogues have awesome animations and love the feel to it when I use orb of deception on my blood elf rogue.

Goblin/Kelfin Paladin. Honestly I just love the goblin model using Paladin abilities. I often use the kelfin disguise on my paladin and it just feels good. As for the mount I hope they do a holy motorcycle. Kelfin if thye ever add them I hope they go for bioluminscence look and like a dark holy animal that illuminates the deep oceans with light sort of look. Something like an angler fish or creature hybrid.

Maghar orc looks I have also enjoyed with the fire ret sword looks. Would be cool to rp a fire paladin/shaman sort of look for blackrock orcs or a burning blade shaman sort of thing.

Goblin and Lightforged Monks. Goblin are very prevalent in Brewfest, they make iconic brewmasters and could have a special Kaja’cola brew. And Pugilists, bling fist weapons, boxer sort of transmogs would be nice if we get goblin monks.

We need a boxer sort of transmog for monks please!

As for lightforged a monk would be nice to show the light tattoos and play of the past Jhedan arts. And T’Paartos was clearly a monk as we helped him punch his way through to becoming a lightforged.

Demonhunter- Sort of interested in orcs and if they get the red felskin that would be awesome, tauren would be awesome if we got feltotem skin, nightborne with felborne customizations, goblins especially if they get the red kelfin skin tones and be more like an imp, dranei if they get eredar skin tones would be awesome demonhunters.

Well, I don’t think the Night Elves would need class skins. We know for Night Elves, it is completely possible without the need of a class skin. Some would need a class skin though, such as Void Elf Paladins for an example, considering that Void Elves being infused with the Void and using the Light would make 0 sense.

Nope. Delas Moonfang is a traitor to her culture.

Night Elf paladins running around with gold wings and praying to the Light would be an absolute travesty and a prime example of why I won’t be okay with fully opened race/class combos unless they’re properly explained.

Eh, if the character’s cultural background is that they HAVE to be from their races homelands, that’s one thing.

But at this point, a Night Elf could just as well have been raised in a Human city and learned to see the Light the way Stormwind citizens see it.

But that’s exactly how it works. You’re playing a representative member of your race, not an outlier.

Then why play a night elf? That’s just a human with purple skin.

Stuff like that completely demolishes any sense of identity for races.

We’ve been in the “world” of warcraft with massive racial intermingling for how long now? Are we even an outlier for having a character “born in an Alliance city?” Stormwind is even full of Nelves at this point, refugees. It’s not unlikely some may feel betrayed by Elune and turn to another source of Light.

I used to be a lore purist too, but given the convoluted state of WoW lore as-is, I don’t think it makes sense to represent that in player class choice, as it limits player freedom. I agree there should absolutely be some hard limits on certain classes/races, but some can be shoehorned as a player character being a reasonable outlier. There’s nothing wrong with that in my opinion.

It would be better to have racial backgrounds firmly acknowledged in NPCs and in-game interactions. We’re already outlier god-killers, we don’t need to be part of the status quo.

Not always. If you play a warlock, you are mostly likely playing someone who isn’t normal and more power hungry. As it is dark magics. Dk you play as someone who died in a previous battle and was raised to keep fighting. A demonhunter is very niche, you are someone that chose a hard path and survived while many died trying to obtain that power. If you play a monk, you decided to pick up this new culture’s fighting style and learn from them.

Your class choice is a start of a journey. You can say the choice sort of dictates how you view the journey at the start. Warlocks are taught in hidden places, far away from sight for example, when I made warlocks of a few races, they each generally were away from most other class trainers unless they were more commonly accepted like blood elves. But as an orc warlock, you had to go away from sight at the back of a cave to learn your spells.

Your choice as a night elf priestess is like common for that culture. But say night elf warlocks, you could say you are an illadari who isn’t as suited with a warglaive but are just as potent casting spells from afar and enslaving/ contracting demons for your cause.
