I can't find my playstyle

It’s weird. I’ve chewed through a good portion of classes up to level cap and I just can’t seem to find that one spec that matches my playstyle.

I used to love playing Combat Rogue because it had a little bit of everything; some complexity, button variety, utility, decent CD’s, and Killing Spree that didn’t suck. It wasn’t super-fast, but it didn’t put you to sleep like Arms Warriors.

It was a flexible melee spec.

Then Legion came, the dark times, where Combat was morphed into the horror that is Outlaw Rogue; an over-designed, APM monster that actively hates you when you over-cap on Combo Points because you fill seven in one GCD.

I tried Arms, but it’s not the same. The mind kind of goes numb when all you have is Overpower, Mortal Strike, and Execute. Not to mention that Fury shares Outlaws OCD.

The only class I haven’t actually tried is Death Knight because, well, they’re kind of lame and haven’t really changed since 2005 with their Darth-Vader voices and never shutting up about death…

Truth is, you might not vibe with a specific class unless you try them all.

And there’s a lot of classes/specs at this point in the game.

Class trials might help narrow it down.

have you tried healing ?

Funny thing is, I tried Disc Healing, but the people I ran into while practicing in LFG Heroics were extremely less than enthused and I stopped entirely.

Disc is possibly the worst healer to try for your first one.
It’s all about knowing when the damage is coming beforehand to set things up and prevent a bunch of it. They’re really really bad at burst AoE / Reactive Healing in general.

They’re not weak, but they’re kind of a weird niche that requires you already know what you’re doing.

Holy on the other hand is one of the most easy to pick up Healers. (Priest, not Paladin)

The draw was the damage and healing, but as it turned out, I was much better at CC and dispelling enrages than dispelling diseases and curses.

I dunno. My brain is kind of wired for CC and ‘kill the mob with the special rules’ mentality.

After looking at Outlaw for the War Within, I really want to get back into it, but it just shred my wrists during Aberrus. I could not keep up with it.

Have you tried monk.
I think its close to combat rogue, and you have a tank and healing spec you can try.
You can even heal with punches and kicks.
I think monk has everything better a combat rogue could do. Its just you cant go stealth. But if you want vanish, go night elf… lol

A lot of people are saying the survival hunter rework for TWW is quite good, it may be a middle ground between fall asleep or balance 7 spinning plates.

Though of course the rework won’t be in play until the 23rd.

I’d also agree with post above about trying windwalker monk. It has great flow and some depth without being overly complex. Its another one with a good rework incoming.

Windwalker is one of the classes I haven’t tried. Guess its as good time as any to give it a whirl before the Expansion drops.

There’s a bone charge pendulum of gameplay that they’ve introduced to Blood Death Knights in TWW. Might want to check it out once the prepatch drops.

I can’t stand DKs, myself, but you may as well try them.

Have you tried Shadow Priest? Since Legion, at least, I’ve always enjoyed them as a side character. Sometimes I put virtually no time in, sometimes I get a lot of mileage, but they have a very rewarding premise behind their gameplay that keeps me coming back to it.

Though tbh nothing is ever going to trump Enhancement for rewarding gameplay IMO. MSW is too fun.

I’d honestly wait until pre-patch. Some specs are changing quite a bit, and will further change at cap.

My top tip is to not judge it based on early levelling.
Once you have more talents and abilities the flow really improves.
Early levels have a lot more auto attacking going on.

It took me to around level 30 until i enjoyed it.
But then i enjoyed it so much i made it my main.

Spread atonement, mindbender, DPS rotation = some of the best burst AoE healing in the game.

If you’re getting enough smites out the mindbender is back up when it fades or shortly after. Disc has some massive burst if you’re playing right and timing your CDs properly.

Disc is my first healer since…Wrath maybe? And I started it in DF. It’s really not as hard as people make it out to be imo.

Changing it to Outlaw was brilliant. “Combat” is meaningless in terms of spec identity. We all engage in combat!

Changing the name? Sure.

Making it play like it does? Garbage decision imo.

And when it comes to a rogue I’d argue that “Combat” was fine because it was the stand-up combatant spec for rogues. Not playing around so much with poisons or surprise attacks. Just getting in there and slicing things up.

Shadow Priest has an amazing DPS gameplay loop. I really enjoy it.

DH is probably a mdps spec that when there is cc to be done, is a popular choice for it to be delegated to.

Feral is a little like that. I have a lot of buttons lol and they are all pretty good. Plenty of choices in the talent tree for additional cc / utility, stealth, you work with bleeds and snap shotting them to make them stronger. They don’t feel as strong as combat rogue did but the button pushing is quite fast. :dash:

When i first stated playing WoW , took me along time to find my main . I didn’t like melee classes because they were boring . I didn’t like playing a caster because they were too slow . Not playing a healer was a no go . Same way being a tank too .
I Finally found a class i enjoy . Being a hunter . I love pets , traps , and range DPS . Fits my play style very well .

You’re right , changing a class talents can change a players play style. Which i why i am playing a Fire Mage and maybe an Arms Warrior in the future.

Playing a hunter is not what is used to be . Maybe in the next expansion things will change for the hunter class.
